I am in the process of building my Phase3 f16 with your Wicked Plus 4000KV motor and 60a ESC but the power wires from the the esc does not reach the cockpit area. Is it ok to lengthen the two wires on the esc as you did in you build log without any ill effects?

Yes I extend the wires all the time.

Hey There Jose,

I have lengthened the two battery wires before as well, with no noticeable problems.. But,,,, surprisingly, it is definitely preferable to lengthen the 3 motor wires instead, if possible. Current gets pulled out of the battery in pulses, and the longer those battery wires are, the higher their resistance and the more the ESC input voltage will fluctuate. They say if you need really long battery wires, you should put bigger capacitors across the ESC inputs to supply the pulses of current needed. Apparently when people have problems with too long battery wires, the damage they see is to the smaller stock capacitors on the inputs to the ESC. If you are using an oversize ESC, it will have bigger caps and is less likely to have an issue with long battery wires. Thicker wires should help too, less resistance (but heavy). EDIT: Just read the rest of the thread and I see that he is only talking about adding 3 inches or so to that battery leads, that is nothing. I would not hesitate to do that, even 5" or so is no big deal. So, nevermind

Well after having my kit for over a year I finally maiden my jet with Dons Wicked 4000 Plus with a 4s 2650 nanotach. I just wanted to say HOOOOOOLLLLYYY COW !!!!!!!. I wish I would of finished this sooner. But I did fiberglass the whole plane minus the canopy and coated it WBPU and lightweight Spackle. Here is a video of it flying today and a picture. Dons Recommendations exceeded my expatiation. I measured 990 watts @ 59 amps. Super fast and the jet gets small super fast, but I love it.....

Your 990 watts made me think it was the stock 5 blade rotor or the HET 64mm fan. In any case glad you like it!

I pretty sure it was the EDO fan maybe the watt meter I used wasnt accurate, but either way it was smokin fast.

Don - Do you have any of the Phase 3 F-16 kits with your recommended balanced motor/ fan and ESC available? If so what is the cost?

Depends how fast you want to go, do you want to glass the airframe, what lipos you want to use etc. Everyone has different goals. The setup I used in my build is listed at the beginning of this thread and the speed was about 105-108 mph. Here are the various 64mm setups I sell for the F16.
