Build Log
WW1 Freighter

Hi Everyone its been a while since i posted and i would like to share with yas another Beautiful build that my Father has almost completed . This boat was built to be our Rescue boat in case one of Rc Sail boats develpes problems out on the Lake. First some specs . Its a Freighter from world War One. The lenght is 52 inches 9 inch beam 4 inch draft . Its all pine construction with a layer of glass on the hull. We have yet to order the power train which will be electric . ( could use some Ideas with this part ) My father added a kinda like Hook which is removable on one side .The theory is to come along side our sail boat and snag one of the Spreaders , then drag her back in. Looks like were gonna be able to swing a 2 inch prop Max. Let me know what yas think my Father loves hearing from yas.

Winkman,

Your father has done a great job . What do you think the finished weight will be?
Keep it coming.

Yes ! More merchantmen! Very tidy work. Does he plan to add more detail ? Anchors, winches, etc. ?

That’s one heck of a recovery boat; your father does a great job.

Would be a great canvas for a WWI dazzle job!

Sweet! Personally, I think an overall white paint scheme with green band interspersed with large red crosses 'round the hull would look rather appropriate considering its intended use.

The freighter looks awesome! Like all of your Dad's builds.

But I have to wonder, how good it will be as a recovery boat. What are the methods you intend to employ? A drag line to encircle the foundering sailboat? That will work. But trying to push another hull with a pointy bow, many of us have learned is an exercise in futility and frustration.

Take another look at the original post- it is all explained there. One of the shots shows the big hook mounted on the starboard side.
