have a soft spot for the old J-3 Cub as the UM J-3 is what started me off

this one looks nice too

I like that it is built up. I like Wood planes over foam so i think I may get this.

Its about time and it really looks good .

I have been wanting them to make a Cub .

NOW , what is the wing loading ?

And is the landing gear attachment area STRONGER than the Champs was/is ?
Because I have seen first hand how weak the Champs fuselage LG area and wire landing gear was , several times

But I am ready to get this Cub myself "IF"

Looks pretty good to me! Wing loading of ~ 12.75-13.65 oz/sq' using their numbers. Should be able to assemble it a bit lighter. I probably give it a try, can never have too many Cubs!

why am I excited to see it but yet sad because no flaps?
not that it would need them, just cool to have onboard (I think)
or at least 'flap ready'

They probably didn't add them because the real J-3 Cub didn't have them... adding them would also add weight in the form of more servos and hardware.

If the wing loading isn't too bad, and can be flown nice and slow like a Cub should be, it won't need them. In real Cubs, pilots use cross controls to side slip in...which makes the Cub descend rapidly without too much acceleration.

really? sheesh, that shows ya how little I know of the scale J-3 Cub... I coulda sworn they did... I'm thinking that they did probably because I added them to my HZ Super Cubs over the years... something to tinker with

so this one is pretty scale then I suppose

Piper PA-18 Super Cubs did have flaps...I think the Piper J-3R was the only J-3 variant that had flaps. I could be wrong of course .

I can't wait for this to finally show up at my LHS. I think I may go down there tomorrow after work and preorder one. I already have all the rest of the components so why not .

Whoa! The price tag on this one is $170!

That would be what it would cost to get one of Pat's 1:8 scale planes RTF. And they would weigh half as much!

I'm excited to see this in person. I think this might be my first wooden plane. I have a real soft spot for the J-3.

This little Cub looks good to me. $170 might be a tad high, but not too bad. If this Cub doesn't sell well, that price will come down. I'm not going to be the first on my block to have one, but I am interested.
