AP .09 Hornet??
Anyone have the instructions for an AP .09 Hornet? I recently bought one and it was missing the instructions? What is the recommended breakin procedure? And the proper needle settings?

Yup, I've got those, but they're at home and I'm at work at the mo...
Remind me later and I'll dig 'em out.
Can't give you first hand experience of breaking in though, I got mine used attached to a Global SST09........

Yup, thanks for the reminder.......
I'll type in what you need and try to be brief, can't scan it at the mo as the scanner is in a box somewhere...
The AP 09 is an ABC engine with a tapered sleeve. It will feel tight when you rotate the engine through the compression stroke. After the engine has been run several times the tightness will decrease.
Break in with fuel no more than 10%. Castor oil is important to the break in. Do not use fuels with an all synthetic oil. Use a 7-4 prop for break in.
Start with an electric starter or by hand. Start as follows:
1.Open throttle and open needle valve 2.5 turns from fully closed.
2.Open carburettor and cover exhaust with finger, turn engine over several times to draw fuel.
3.Uncover exhaust while continuing to turn engine over 3 - 5 times. This draws fuel into the cylinder without flooding.
4. Set carb to 1/4 throttle for r/c version.
5. Connect glowplug
6. Turn engine over with stick or starter.
7. Once engine starts fully open throttle
8. Make slight adjustments to needle to keep engine running
9. After 20-40 seconds remove glow starter then slowly turn needle vale to lean the mixture.
10 For break-in adjust mixture at full throttle to a very rich position' Let engine run for 2-3 minutes. Stop engine.
11. Once engine has cooled restart. Set mixture to a slightly leaner setting. Let run a few minutes and let cool.
12. Repeat process leaning the mixture slightly each time.
13. After 30 minutes of total run time engine will be ready to fly.
14.Fly the plane with engine as rich as possible, but with adequate power.
15.After each flight lean the mixture slightly. Do this until at the end of 10 flights the engine is holding a normal needle valve setting.
WARNING: Do NOT run the engine in a lean condition and always let the engine cool. This will prevent any premature wear or damage to the piston and sleeve.
Hope that'll do for the mo....
