Barbini 1cc

I have one, and this Italian job is a gem. Easy to start and quite powerful, well made engine. Mine has slanted NV(keeps finger away from prop arc.).

Battered 1959 Taipan Mk 3 2.5 "blue head"

Recently restored to running condition with new piston, contra piston and connecting rod.

Decided not to restore it cosmetically at this time, but will polish the case to make it look less tatty. Non standard compression screw now replaced with original tommy bar.

My Engines

Hello guys,
so there are my engines. I have only four diesel engines but ,all of them work. I have three russian engines MK-17 but one is complete with original box, propeller and manual and one german engine WILO 1,5 by Willi Otto from 1955.

Until now, I had just vaguely heard of the WILO, never seen one....AFAIK it was never sold at my latitudes back then....interesting...
It would be nice to learn more of this engine...it looks just "right"...

There are another photos of WILO. But I really do not know anything about this engine. If anyone knows any information about this engine, I would be grateful.

On the Wilo, it would be interesting to mount the prop. Look at the prop driver, imagine reaming the prop for that fat driver...

I have a Russian MK 12 B which has a similar projection on the prop driver. I was lucky that I could escape with just countersinking the prop to accomodate the projection.
Here are a few pictures of the engine. The NV is missing as it was thrown away right at the begining as it did not work, I swapped in a NV from Sharma diesel and it worked perfect

Talking of Sharma diesels, here is my Sharma 2.5 cc.
These are made in India and are much better than the K line of diesels which was also made in India

Have never seen a Wilo but remember seeing an article in a mid '50s Aeromodeller magazine.
It was made in Germany......perhaps east side of the wall????

There was one not long ago on eBay, but I never followed it up.

The prop. driver is very similar to the Webra Rekord 1.5cc German diesel that you need to ream out the prop. to have it fit properly.
I have in fact just reamed out several props. to suit my Rekord's and it takes over an hour to do them properly and balance them.

Ah so east it was.
Again going from memory without scratching through the old mags, the one pictured back then had a beam mount as per #2720 & #2722.

Yes in the eastern part of Saksen-Anhalt. Wilo's do turn up very occasionally, I am not a collector of east German engines, the U-boat is one of the rare exeptions.
