Cmpro ASH26

Got one of these recently as lost my flying dreams discus and so am just posting some details of making the model a little more scale like.

The Royal 3m ASH26 sports a scale tailplane size at around 75mm so I'm a little over scale but still looks much better.

Glad I went down the root of making the tailplane a bit smaller it looks much better than the 'plank' that's supplied with the kit. I just need to install a second bolt or alignment dowel perhaps for the tailplane as the current aft one is obsolete.

Regardless if NP gives me another kit, or refunds my money, because the won't take the incentive to pull a kit to guarantee that they would still have one in stock when they got mine back, I will still use my folding prop power pod design for another 2.6 scale glider like a Ventus.. figured the main boom out of a 8mm carbon arrow shart, with a 4mm piece glued to the back side of it , and then the whole shaft assy going thru the fuse right behind the main wing spar tube, after I take the goofy air brake stuff out.. Found out that it's not in the right place on the wings anyway, and will block flow to the elevator..I'am looking at a 450 size 1050 - 1100 kv motor, with a 38 - 40mm yoke, and a 9.5 by 5, or 10 - 4 Aeronaut folding Cam prop. on 3s.. Also a 30 - 40a ESC with at least a 3 amp UBEC... Been loosing a lot of sleep doing research on this.... Ian

Thanks Ian... I figured a 28mm motor with the 8mm carbon boom would keep the profile narrow, and also a strong 450 outrunner with one of the props ect, would give me around 220+ watts, figuring it would need around 210 to take off from the runway, and just enough to get me out of trouble if needed... I was also very impressed on how lite the ASH is compared to my DG, with substituting the heavy steel spar rod with strong carbon, a 6mm, with one inside that..

I never had any success with the steel rod 6mm joiner. My ASH will use 6mm solid carbon rod. I'm gonna avoid a lipo with voltage reg and use 4 cell 2400mah nimh. This way I can monitor battery voltage at reciever.

Today is 11/7, and I received an e-mail on my replacement kit, stating that it is being shipped out, and that I should receive it on the 12th.. It did not state if it was checked out though,, so I went back to the vendor forum, and asked... Also put in a request for some kind of discount incentive, like free shipping on my next purchase, ''for the trouble''.. I also stated that I might buy another kit for spares, A.S.A.P, if it is still in stock at that time,, ''If they will give me an incentive''..

Thank you Ian.. NP's customer satisfaction record overall is very lacking.. Taking care of me on this will only help to improve it....

Update... Just read a reply from Charlie at the NP forum.. He said the new kit wasn't checked out by him, but said it was checked out by the shipping dept , and they said it looks fine.. ''I hope they were honest about that''... He is checking with management though, about getting me some kind of coupon code, free shipping, and - or,, discount on my next order..

I guess Ian you will never really know that and can only take them at there word. I do hope its a goodun. I can't sing 'slough rc' praises enough on that note as they opened the fly fly asw28 box and sent me photos of the trueness of the tail fin. They were very honest with me and pointed out that the tailplane seat was the only thing that was slightly off on the moulding, but I was happy to proceed.

I remember in 1970, going over to England, and seeing so many model sailplanes fly. One of my relatives gave me a glider,'' that he made'', and flew ''with me'', and to take back to the states ..'' It got broken on the flight back''.. ''It's all good though Ian''.. I will make this sailplane fly!!
