Have you thought of having another motor on the bottom with a rod with helicopter balance weights on the very ends. It might be like having a gyroscope inside of it so it won't dance around so much. It really helped on controlling my helicopters.

I built a new test rig today. Took a metal hanger, made a half loop, put the ends in washers glued to the sides of the cube. I then took a fishing line from the hoop up through an eyelet on a rafter on my patio, and then to the side and down.

The rig actually applied too many lateral forces on the aircraft to be truly be useful. The only useful thing I got out of the tests were the fact that the gyroscopic forces were causing strong couplings between pitch and roll in a hover. I think I need to run some calculations and see how much coupling I can expect and maybe try to use them to my advantage and mix it into the controls.

I think it depends on the mass of the prop, but try offsetting the inputs by 45 degrees. Essentially, keep them as they are, but consider the pitch and roll axes as being aligned to the diagonals when flying.

That's an interesting idea.

When you say " helicopter balance weights" do you mean a teetering fly bar?

Can you please post a photo of your heli with this setup?
