You use a two position switch on the TX to switch the gyro gain. Usually, you set it up to switch between "rate" mode and "heading hold" mode. Most people fly in HH mode, but rate mode can be useful for setting the tail linkage up. You increase the gain until the tail starts to wag in fast forward flight, and then back it off some. Setting up gyros can be quite a frustrating business sometimes!
