Possible Decal method
Last year My wife purchased a CRICUT Cutter ( http://www.cricut.com/ ) for Scrapbooking (I fly while she Scrapbooks).
I used it a few times to make some letters for a couple planes using Trim Monokote sheets. Works very well, but I always wondered if I could use regular heat Shrink covering. The other day whlie spraying 3M 77 contact adhesive on my HalfPipe 60 a light bulb went on inside my head (found alot of missing items when in the "light") Anyways, I used the 3M contact adhesive in a light spray and joined 3 pieces of printer paper together, then I sprayed a light coat of 3M on the top layer, waited a couple minutes and then layed a 6 in wide piece of Ultracote. I used 6" width because that is the max width the CRICUT will take. I have used 6 X 12, I believe that might be the max size, though not sure. I cut out the letters you see below (these are out of "card stock" ). The cutter cut a very clean line through the Ultracote and through 2 of the 3 sheets of paper. It was a challeng to peel the Ultracote from the paper (will use lighter spray of 3M next time) the next time I am at my workshop (tommorrow if possible) I will try ironing the letters on the HalfPipe. More to come, will have to take regular camera along instead of using cell phone and having to email them to myself. As for now the downside to this is there are limited Fonts that I see useful Last edited by soarntz; Jan 27, 2009 at 04:24 PM. |

This looks like a nice source for wood materials and tools.. A nice selection of woodcarving tools is included. I'm looking forward to buying basswood from them for my next plug.. |
