RCGroups World Slope Tour

RCGroups world slope tour is the tour of a slope glider around the world. The aim of the tour is to have the glider flown at as may fling sites and by as many people as possible. Photo and video documentation is a must at all sites and will be posted on this thread for all to see.
There will be a “were is it now” page, so you can track the progress and see if it is getting close to you.
A $5 donation is required from every one who has a fly; this is to cover postage costs, any money that is left after postage will go to the Eric Molstead Foundation, a fellow RCGroups member that was tragically killed in a plane accident. At the end of the tour the plane (what’s left of it) will be auctioned and the proceeds will also go to Eric’s foundation.

Rules:
If you are the recipient of the Dominator then you are responsible for its well being, the collection of the $5 flying fee, repairs that may be needed and the forwarding to the next recipient. Payments can be made via paypal to worldslopetour@hotmail.com
As a recipient you will have to have a current papal account that you can deposit and receive funds from.
The Dominator is not to be held for more than 3 weeks be any one recipient as she has to get around the world and try and make it to some major events.
The original post were this idea was developed is here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=385342 were there are lots of pic's of the build and first flights.
Glenn

OK---thanks to Dan Field the World Tour plane flew at Fermin today!!! 6 Pilots stepped up and volunteered $5 to fly her!! Hope to have some still pics and video later this week-- but I'm going to work-- so it may be a while!! Who wants her in SD?? THen I know the Weasle fest is going off the end of the month in Santa Barbara-- so I'll need someone to register to take her off my hands for that!!! Surfimp?? You up for it???
Flew very nice --- blue skies and wispy clouds in 20 to 25mph winds!! Great night and good flying-- thanks to all that flew her--- didn't get all the names-- their in the log book-- Fermin Bill FLyin Fossle Dan-- Minhuahau and friend the Boobie catcher and myself!! Good flyin and thanks for the donations!!

California has the DOm-- First it went to Fermin with me-- now to the Weasle Fest-- then it should come back to San Diego before heading North to the Bay Area if anyone wants it there. Then on to Washingon/Oregon for the complete West Coast Tour---it could easily head east from there-- to include Jack Cooper in Kansas etc. + on to Texas and other parts again further East!
That's just a suggestion as to ease of movement and any shipping--- mostly to avoid those costs to allow as much of the funds as possible to get to the intended place- Eric's family.
Thanks--

Glenn, she had a good time at the BBQ but I made sure she got home safe and sound

Unfortunately, the wind never got above about 6-7mph today and I didn't want to risk flying the Dom. Turnout was not as good (to be expected on a Sunday) so unfortunately it didn't quite work out. I did have the plane there and setup though, and told everybody about it. There's still plenty of more opportunities and a number of people expressed interest... we need to get the California / US flyers organized so that we can efficiently get the Dom from place to place and get that logbook filled up!

I am willing to donate a Hitec 555 to the cause, so that we don't have to figure that part of the equation out over & over again. That way we can be sure that it will be ready to go for everybody in the US as soon as they receive it. Would love feedback on this concept. The 555 is negative shift, though, so it would only work with Hitec/Futaba gear. A positive shift receiver could always be swapped in of course.

hi, Steve.

I just posted a spreadsheet of the pilots who signed up on the other thread. It is located here (I hope):

This should get someone started on coordinating things.

Take care,

Barry

How bout this???

surfimp ~~Santa Barbara <--Dom here now
SLO Soarer ~~ Los Osos (San Luis Obispo)
Reed ~~San Francisco
Sloper Dave ~~Camarillo
KingOfTheHill ~~Santa Clarita
danfield ~~ Long Beach
Imoonbark ~~Fullerton
Taylor Mullin ~~Costa Mesa
tkigar/DSslopeguru ~~Alta Vista
Mr. Innocent ~~Carlsbad

This is just a suggestion...... I can pick up the Dom from Surfimp and save the postage, and if Reed doesn't mind driving a bit I can drop it off to him too. That seems to be as far north as it goes on this list and most of the people in So. Cal. look close enough together that it can probably be handed off to one another to save the shipping cost.

Like I said....just a suggestion. Anyone else got an idea?

I hate to repost....

...I posted my suggestion here in response to the spreadsheet. Who is still on the list that can be checked off as already getting the Dom?

Didn't realize that we were going clear up to Washington with her. If that's the case we could start in the So. Cal. and work it's way North.

I was thinking--- coast of California-- then North to Washington and Oregon-- then head east to whoever wants it. Doesn't make sense to ship it if we don't have to. Once it goes to Adm. Red in Texas-- then it will need to be shipped. I know the boys in SD wanted to see it-- it's in Central Calif now-- anyone in the Bay Area??

The Dom will be on it's way to SLO this weekend. I will be driving down to steves to pick it in the morning. Any of you San Luis Obispo RCG'ers want to fly it let me know. When it leaves me it will be on it's way to San Francisco to the JART man himself.......(insert drumroll here)....... Reed. I'll get pics up as the flights happen and I'll try to post a video. It will be my first attempt at posting vid, so I hope it'll work.
