Small Issue
"Good luck though , i hope you sort out this small issue , cos it is a very cool plane , and great fun".
Bobbyr Bobbyr, Who are you addressing here? Me? If so, my "small issue" has been sorted and my Mk11 Speedo now flys very nicely thanks very much. No need for me to look further. I am now waiting for that next day when our NE seabreeze comes in for some enjoyable flying. Jim. |

Good one Jim. I'd love to see some vid of how it flies with the rudder once you get some weather? Mine doesn't seem to need any differential, rolls nicely and didn't need any straightening at all. It did need 2 small nails pushed into one wingtip to balance sides, but I prolly wouldn't have noticed this small difference. It still balances at 65mm and I like it like that. I measured it at the LE where it exits the fuz,so is probably closer to 68, same as yours, if I bothered to take the wing off to measure. R2 must owe thanks to RCgroups for making this little gem so popular.
Cheers, simon PS hope you haven't been flooded lately? |

Fortunately, I am out of flood danger, but not so many of my friends in town. Bello is only about 25 mtrs above sea level! I have not even thought about video yet, however my flying buddy Andrew did one of Manilla Fest, maybe I can ask him...... I really like the rudder. There seems to be slope flyers who do, and those that think it is totally unecessary. And many of both persuasions fly extremely well! I think it (liking rudder), comes from full size glider training, at least in my case. I plan to order another kit and build a composite wing for it. Then I'll have a spare built up wing for this one. Happy flying. Jim. |

I have found that lack of rudder just makes for some ugly and akward turns when trying to bring it in.
I have also found the planes that can make good use of a rudder dont have one and the planes that have one really could live without it. Such is life. |

Video
Thanks RosscoPK, for putting up the excellent video of Cliff's fantastic flying!
A video of me flying mine would have been very boring in comparison. I am flying very conservatively now after destroying both my self designed and built composite planes at our recent Manilla Slope Fest (NSW Australia) in September. And both after very short flights. One due to servo failure and one due to "dumb thumbs". I am still smarting over the last one. After all, I have only been flying seriously one season. I've built myself a coreflute plane to get those essential hours up and to gradually stretch my limits etc. It sounds boring, but it goes very well! But now and then, I'll fly the little Speedo in ideal conditions, and within my skill level. The video brings to mind another one of Cliff's, the "Suraci" video. Well worth watching for sure! Jim. |

Jimbello,
Thanks for your comments, it helps a heap to fly on that slope shown with its excellent lift- gives you more confidence to extend yourself. I'll be out your way next week- visiting my sister in Newcastle. Bringing over my Wasabi and hope to meet up with Waza! warm winds and sunshine Whoo Hoo!

My Mk 11 is flying nicely! I have it trimmed ideally now, it will pull out very slightly in the dive test (CG 68 mm). Its fast, but can be slowed down safely for landing. I needed a small amount of down rudder mix with spoilerons and they work very well. Lots of fun flying ahead! Jim. |

Clear packing tape works well, too.
