TURNIGY ACCUCELL-6 Manual Warning Against Parallel Linking of Battery

On page 6 of the operation manual of Accucell-6, there is a warning against parallel linking of battery cells:

"-You have to pay attention to verify the capacity and the voltage of the
Lithium battery pack. It may be composed of parallel and series connection
mixed. In parallel link the capacity of the battery pack is multiplied by the
number of cells but the voltage remains same. That kind of voltage
imbalance causes a fire or explosion during charge process. We recommend
you compose the Lithium battery pack in series only."

I am quite confused by this warning. Frequently we need to make a pack by parallel linking the battery cells, such as 18650 cells. Am I missing something here?

The paragraph might be aiming at "ad-hoc" parallel charging? As in when you use two packs separately but want to charge them together.

Even as you call it "ad-hoc" parallel charging would be tough to get a fire. Plenty of people have connected together fully charged and empty as a test and no fire results. It's not a good idea to do, but still have no idea what that warning is really trying to warn you against.

We suspect that, but their lawyers just want to be sure. These things are sold in the US - so it's always better to write something idiotic than finding yourself in a lawsuit.

Considering all the companies selling parallel charging boards ??

Must be no lawyers left in the USA.

The manual was most likely written by someone who was not an American based on its English. So I think legal considerations were not the reasons behind this warning.

I think it's a simple case of them telling you not to do something entirely so they don't have to go through the effort of properly explaining and providing support for it. Ever see all those warnings on devices that say 'must be used with genuine power supply' even when the device works well off of a basic lipo battery?
