Hi I am a long time lurker first time poster. I recently bought an Aquacraft Bristol Bay boat and while I love the hull I think the deck needs work. I want to remove the glued down parts, like the winch and the entry way on the fore-deck. It is well glued down and was hoping for advice on removing them without pulling up the whole deck. Thanks in advance.

Give up all hope the deck is a disaster anyway. Putting on some nice planking is easy:

I have done it, BUT, it is not for a beginner. I then had to sand smooth the wood, and redraw the planking lines with a matching art pencil. I was also going to weather the boat when finished! CaptCB

I added balsa planking over my deck,never finished it though
I cut the planks in 6" strips

The balsa planking looks great. What did you use to clear the ornaments off the deck?

Not sure what you mean
I removed everything off of the deck to plank it

As far as glued down parts I just pulled them carefully by hand until the glue gave loose

Grip it and rip it

Maybe an xacto knife would make it clean cuts

When I ripped my stuff off it did damage some if the plywood underneath but if your going to plank it,it won't matter much

I love Pats approach more but I was happy with $15 of balsa planks

I choose to stagger my boards too

Yep, like that balsa planked deck a lot.

I pulled the stuff off my deck, and it did not damage it. It did however, lighten the area when I scrubbed it to remove the dried glue.

So I finally started working on my bristol bay and found that is is based on the Gaupner fischkutter and they are based on a WW2 German boat. I was wondering if anyone had or knew where to get plans for a kfk kriegsfischkutter?

I just finished remaking my Bristol Bay this week. Sea Trials today went fine. I would send you some pixs but cant figure out how to get images attached to these replys. What I did was;
-strip the entire deck
-through out the radio, servo, and speed control
-removed shaft/tube and installed 3/16th shaft
-moved pilot hs aft 3 inches
-replanked the entire deck
-dull finished hull
-made a crane out of fwd mast
-installed 2.4 radio, Viper esc, Hicks engine sound module, and BB MG servo
-installed lower rpm 550 motor
-installed 1 1/2 inch brass Rivabo prop
-bought a ton of doll hs size deck items-boxes-pallets-bananas-sacks of grain-barrels of oil-water cooler-deck hand
