Launching Me-163 from car

Enjoy the first launching tests and consequences:

Me-163 takeoff on RC Car (2 min 51 sec)

Reasons of aborted starts

Start 1) Breaking system of rc car got activated shortly before liftoff because of incorrect settings on transmitter.

Start 2) Break-off after crossing the side line of the runway.

Start 3) Nozzle retraction speed hasn’t reached while opening the electronic coupling device. Wrong flight phase settings on transmitter.

Damages on Me-163

No damages besides of broken props!

General issues

Very high wing loading of this rigged Me-163.
Futhermore a written checklist will be obligatory for future starts.

ha, ha, ha.....This is great!

When I read the title "from car" I thought it was a translation problem.

Cool idea. Nicely done. That car really moves !!! Lucky you. What a beautiful place to fly.

I do have an idea to help you peel off of the dolly.....see sketch.

The car is pretty fast but clearly from the video results it's not fast enough. The one where the Komet leaps clear but then it still settles to the ground due to insufficient speed tells the tale pretty well.

Instead of the powered car I'd suggest a take off dolly similar to those used by control line speed models coupled with a short but strong bungee assist to obtain some good initial acceleration then the Komet and dolly moves ahead of the bungee and accelerates from the prop drive up to normal takeoff speed.

Set the angle of attack for the plan on the dolly at around 6 degrees and "trap" the dolly to the model so it can't fall clear until the model is about a foot in the air. That'll force the dolly to go with the model until it clears the trip height. So the CG of the model and dolly must match the CG for the model alone to avoid an "interesting moment" during liftoff. But like with the control line models at least you'll know you have flying speed once the combo is high enough for the dolly to disengage and fall away.

Thanks for all the comments

Right, the car is fast, but not fast enough.
The only thing I need is a longer runway. The car still accelerates.

The other issue is that as the car goes faster with the airplane attached the airplane is going to begin to steer the car. At that point you'll likely get more wobbles and radical steering issues as seen in a couple of the attempts. Yet another reason for a non powered takeoff dolly instead of using the car.
