PPM encoder or decoder?

Hello,
i found this little board:
http://www.goodluckbuy.com/ppm-board...ontroller.html
Help me figure - this is PPM encoder, or PPM decoder?
I think this is PPM encoder (similar to this one), but still confused by "5V for servos" pins.

If that's encoder, can someone suggest PPM decoder schematics for 12 channels? I found many for 4 chans, one for 8 channels but still no idea about 12 channels.

Thanks!

AB,

They are basically the same. They call them encoders, but they really aren't doing any encoding. They take the individual servo pulses from a receiver and output them as a serial stream. Many of the multicopter flight controllers require the serial stream rather than individual signals.

Well, PPM encoder then? ;-)
Thanks, still no idea why 5V connector "for servo" is here (but does not really matter anyway).

I was editing while you were replying.

Yes, you can call it an encoder. I would call it a multiplexer.

So that board will convert the signals into PPM to be able to use the DOSD v2 on a regular receiver that doesnt have PPM output?

Hi,

Did anyone use this board? If so, did it work ?

I've have one and I think it does not work. Using a cheap oscilloscope I get some sort of saw wave on the PPM pin (max 1.5V) and the timming of the wave does not seem to change when the radio sticks move.

I'm using a Corona RP8D1 receiver, I can get a PPM signal from it. This signal has square waves and changes with stick movement.

I'll try to get a picture of the signal and post.

EDIT:
Ok, got the thing working. This is a copy of a Paparazzi ATmega PPM Encoder Board (V1 PCB), and I had to remove C3 to make it work. Flashed last bootloader+firmware.

regards,
m

PPM signal out from the Corona RP8D1

Marunga:

Could you shown us how do you get out of the Corona RP8D1 the PPM signal?

I should do that to conect it to my new OSD.

Regards,
Alex.
