Question
Victoria radio question

Hi...this is a pretty newbie question, so sorry for sounding dumb!

Back in November, I bought a Thunder Tiger Victoria RTR from Tower and it came in good shape, but the radio was missing the battery holder and power switch; the radio box was present with the receiver and two servos. After a couple of months of going back and forth with both Tower and Thunder Tiger, they agreed to send me the missing parts. I came home today to find that they sent me the radio box with two servos.

With nothing else!

I am going to send it back, but I am giving up on them sending me the battery holder/box and power switch. So I will just buy a replacement (should only cost a few bucks). But I am not used to these types of radios (I use Spektrum for my planes). What sort of battery box and power switch should I buy? It takes 4 double A batteries...

Thanks!

Aaron,
What you need is not part of the kit. Buy a battery holder with switch, from Tower. It holds 4 AA batteries, with a switch and cable to plug into your receiver.

Maryland Model Yacht Club sails in Columbia, MD, on 3rd Saturdays, at 9:30 AM, in season.

It is part of the RTR, I confirmed this with both Tower and Thunder Tiger.

My main question is would any 4 battery box and switch work with this receiver?

If you are in a hurry, you can get them from your LHS (local hobby shop)

Even better is a 5 cell NiMh rechargable pack with switch. Silicone up the openings and velcro it to the bottom of the hull.

You don't know the hobby shop situation where I live! I already ordered one from Tower and now am waiting for the snow and ice to melt...

You really want more than 4.8V for servo holding power. I ran a 2S 1800 Lipo for 3 years with no regulator and no issues. I used a HS-645MG for sails and HS-81 for rudder.

You could certainly use a LIFE pack for lower voltage as slightly higher weight.
