Improving flight experience with 9X

I had been fiddling with ER9X firmware on my Turnigy 9X transmitter, to tweak it to suit my preference when flying WLtoys V939. I'd like to share the highlights of my configurations (may work on the stock 9X firmware; may be adapted to suit flying other quads like the bigger V929, V949, or V959):
  • Asymmetric rates - Elevator more, Aileron less. This is because banked turns do not require a lot of banking. I have the tendency to apply too much aileron input, thus messing up my banked turns. This lets me pull off smooth banked turns easily.
  • Low rate - Elevator 25%, Aileron 15%. When lifting off the ground to commence flight, or when coming in to land, or to glide around gracefully.
  • Medium rate - Elevator 80%, Aileron 50%. High speed fun, but no accidental flips.
  • High rate - 90% for Elevator & Aileron. For flips.
  • Rudder Expo -20 (both left and right). Banked turns need quite a lot of yaw. This setting makes rudder input more sensitive at mid stick, requiring little rudder inputs to execute smooth banked turns.
  • Normal Throttle Curve as -100, -80, 20, 75, 100. Moving the curve to the right is to let the quad hover at around mid stick or perhaps 60% throttle, instead of 40%.
  • Low Batt Throttle Curve as -100, -30, 30, 75, 100. When the quad needs more throttle input (e.g. 75% to hover) that is the battery is running low on juice, switch to this curve to "boost" the quad.
  • Flight time set to 4:00.
Sample flight procedures
  1. Start with Throttle Hold engaged, Low Rate, and Normal Throttle Curve.
  2. Disengage Throttle Hold, increase Throttle to around 50% to 60% to lift the quad off the ground.
  3. Fly the quad at Low Rate to the actual flying area.
  4. Switch to Medium Rate, and fly the quad.
  5. At the around 2:30, switch to Low Batt Throttle Curve to keep the amount of throttle required to hover at mid stick.
  6. At 4:00, the count down timer sounds. Switch to Low Rate, and send the quad back for landing.
  7. When the quad has landed, engage Throttle Hold, and switch back to the Normal Throttle Curve.
  8. Unplug the battery and rest the quad, before beginning the next session.

Sorry I don't mean to hijack your thread. I am new to this hobby. I've been looking into radios. I currently have a syma x1 and read it's much better and responsive with a turnigy x9 so I'm going to order one up.

Now, I have a V202, V939, LB V2, and Hubsan X4 on order. Will the Turnigy radio work for them all, from what I gather from what I have read it won't. What radio would work best for all the models I have.

I don't have the USB programmer with me right now, so here are ER9X settings:
Code:

CH2 +100% ELE
CH3 +100% THR ID0
      R +100% THR !ID0
      R -100% HALF GEA
CH4 +100% RUD

Channel Subtrim From To Dir
----------------------------------------
CH1 0 0 100
CH2 0 0 100 INV
CH3 0 0 100
CH4 0 0 100

     Expo Rates % SW1 SW2
---------------------------------
RUD -20 100
THR 0 100
ELE 0 25, 80, 90 AIL ELE
AIL 0 15, 50, 90 AIL ELE

Throttle Points ID0: -100 -80 +20 +75 +100
Throttle Points !ID0: -100 -30 +30 +75 +100
With this configuration I was able to do this :
WLtoys V939 Moving Pirouettes (4 min 41 sec)

Can be done but the piros are painfully slow. And in this case it's not just piro at the same spot but during a banked turn. I can't do this with the stock TX without losing control of the quad.
