Question
Solar cells at SEFF

I have seen a few people with solar cells at SEFF in the past. I'm curious to know how many of you will be using them this year. I am hoping to bring my set up with me. It should keep everything up and running and fully charged.

I'd like to come by and check that out. Many, including me, have generators for power also.

I see you live in Baltimore. I grew up in Laurel. Small world.

Ironically, I began correspondence yesterday with a gentleman regarding solar power...

I am curious, how much does the typical system cost? I need something capable of delivering 24v

I can't help much. I am very new to the solar world. I did find this http://www.solarpaneltalk.com/index.php place. They have a lot of good info there.

Finding the plane in the dark might be easy, but finding you in the dark wont be!

Great. Keep an eye out for these. Here are three (3) of the eight (8) that I will be bringing with me. The cow cub, a home made foamie and Big Orange. Big Orange is like a Telemaster.

My set up should put out 15-20 amps as well. I'm only running one (1) 185 watt cell for power.

YEA!!!!!!
I have started working on my solar set up. All the parts are in. I hope to do a full test this weekend. I have run my input feed line and my output charge wire. I have picked out a nice spot under the couch to mount the charge control unit. I'm hoping it gets some air flow under there.

Harbor Freight has the 45 Watt, 3 Panel setup on sale this weekend for $149.99, 3/9/12. Normally it sells for $229.99, I caught mine on sale awhile back for $169.99 and I thought it was a good deal then. I have a setup on my trailer feeding a deep cycle marine battery, it always seems to be fully charged. They have a stack of them on the front porch of the store roped off ready for the sale, I don't know if that will be the price through the website or not.

Yea those are cool. I looked into those a while back. I picked up my panels from a friend at a great price. I was not 100% sure those would do what I wanted. That is why I went with the bigger cell.
My charge control is mounted. My battery cables have the ends on them. One battery is done. The second battery will be online tomorrow evening. I still need to make my feed cable from the cell to the camper input line. I should have the complete system up and running by dark.
