More Covering Completed

Well, the fuse is covered but now I need to do some detailing like painting the cowl, the ID numbers, gold highlights on the rudder, and the scull and crossbones. I am going to church now to thank the Lord for steadying my hand this morning!

Covering and Detailing

Ok..this one is a little tricky - overlapping shrink film.

What I show here is me creating a template using basic old computer paper. I first drew the pattern and used a plastic template to make the triangles.

Next, I placed a goldenrod shrink film outer side down and then placed another piece outer side up. Then taped them on my cutting board.

After this, I then placed my template over the top and cut through both. Now, I have a perfect copy for both sides of the plane!

I did the same thing for the black shrink film..then I ironed it on top of the goldenrod.

See pics below.

More Detailing of Fuselage

Tonight I was able to do more work on the fuse. I covered the exhaust scoop, and also added the black exhaust markings that flow along side of the fuse.

I was also able to cover the wooden washers I made that help to keep the battery hatch secure and I finished by pealing off the plastic masking on the cowl where I will apply the black paint.

Have a great evening!

Covering the Wings

I started to cover the belly of the wing/fuse and then moved to the top of the wing.

It's Finished

Well, there are a few little things that may take me a few minutes to do but other than that, the plane is built!.

This was my first scratch built war-bird and I learned all the things that I needed to learn in order to build my corsair and p-51.

I also inluded my decal sheet template in case others of you want to make a Jolly Roger themed plane.

I will now start a Guppy sailplane and hope to have it done soon.

Thanks for watching this build!

Bringing an old thread back to life... How did it fly? I'm interesting in building this one as well.

I agree. Looking to build this. Love T-28's but no one has anything other than 'foamies". I like balsa and love to build. Would put a nitro in this kit.

I dont remember seeing it posted, but what motor and prop combination did you use? How does that combinations handle the aircraft? Great posts, thanks.
