Quadrocopter AV Snow Landscape

Hi, here is a test of my quadrocoper AV platform.

There is no image stabilization used.

Camera is a Aiptek AHD200 with a 0.45x wide angle lens hotglued to it

See it in 720p.

Wow! That is quite impressive! That was a great video. Your panning was excellent. BTW! You could use some more snow!

Rolf,
Amazing stability and lack of vibration. Is your camera mount styro foam, foam and zip ties?
Cheers,
Jim

WOW!!

The thing is stable! Seems like there is no vibrations at all, and that you have the q-copter dialed in rather nicely!!

I have been following your thread, and I would like to say Congratulations with the job you did on the code, and thank you for sharing it with the community here!

VERY NICE!!!

Very nice video! As has already been said, the stability is fantastic. That speaks both to the platform and your flying abilities. I need to get a tri or quad going so I can offer video like this. Super job! Hope to see more video, especially from there, beautiful.

Rolf, that's some of the best and smoothest footage I've seen. Well done.
You live in a beautiful place too.

Now I have one of those cameras, what wide angle lens did you use?

Thanks everybody

There is enough snow here now, usually there is not much, but we have a new record this winter. It has been snowing for three months now. I think I am going to start a snow-exporting firm. Anybody want to buy?

Yes, exept there is rubber bands instead of zip ties. It is of course hot glued together

I used smaller and smaller pieces of foam on the sides of the camera until I no longer could feel vibratration when I touched the camera with the motors running. It need to have a real loose fit to isolate the vibrations well.

I might be an idea to have string to secure the camera, or else you might get a skydivers view

Thanks

This one: http://cgi.express.ebay.com/ws/eBayI...m=260535616737
, but any 37mm lens should work, search ebay for wide angle 37mm 0.45.

I glued a 37-30.5mm adapter ring to the camera, you might need to enlarge the ring first or dremel of the camera, and then put the lens onto the ring.

It is this one: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=5686

But the one you linked to might be equally good.

One thing about these motors: the bell mounted prop adapter has a sloppy fit to the bell. I went all the way and machined an adapter ring to fit inside the adapter. Im sure a couple of rounds of paper or thin plastic had fixed it as well....

Fixing an electric motor. (close up of inside cut, outside cut and parting on a metal lathe) (2 min 1 sec)
