“Purple” 1” and 2” Owens Corning Foamular? (Reno, Nv Home Depot)

While walking through Home Depot yesterday I spotted what looks to be a new Owens Corning Foamula foam (well new to me). I have been using the pink 2” Foamular foam from Home Depot and my supply is running low. I believe it is still the Foamular 150, but it is purple not pink. To the touch it felt the same as the pink foam. Has anyone seen or used the purple Foamular foam? I will pickup a sheet later today and post additional info.

I saw some a few years back that was more of a light purple (lavenderish) than pink. I'm not sure but I think it was an error in coloring. I've also seen Dow foam that was white rather than blue, etc.

Some of the companies will do custom colors if the customer buys enough foam. Maybe it was part of a custom run???

It's hard to tell if it was intentional or not. I've been surprised at some of the stuff that passes OC's QC processes.

Ive picked up and used the purple 150 and 250 in the last couple yrs throughout the us and to me its the same as any other 150 and 250, just different color.

I'd be surprised if it's an error in coloring, my Home Depot has had the purple stuff for over a year. I have no idea why the color change. If it was an error, they sure made a lot of it.

Thanks, I picked up a sheet of the purple lastnight, as i'm almost out of pink. Good to hear it's only a color change.

The key is to not depend on color —stryrene foam is naturally white and is colored by the maker— but on the manufacturer's specs. No matter what the color, if it says "Foamular 250 ... " that's what it is and that's what properties it must have. Owens Corning replacement warranty only extends to use as insulation, but it covers ASTM C578 and CAN/ULC-S701 physical properties including compressive and flexural strengths.

Thanks, I was thinking maybe Owens might have changed the specs but it looks like they only changed the color.

the new different color indicates that the foam was made with the new green technology. surprised no one spoke up earlier.
