50F and between 18 and 23mph wind... Not happy right now...

But I'm going to buy some snow skis for this plane, .40 size should be alright... ?

No idea on the size. Not even sure on the equivalancy of the .40 size to this bird. Were you looking at Dubro's ski set?

Those are cool, but way out of my price range. If you do get them, make sure to wax the crap out of the bottom of them, otherwise you'll start to get ice build up on the bottoms. Get some snowboard or ski wax. Its awesome stuff. Reminds me of my younger days. There was some wax called "mothers milk". It was white and shaped in the form of a ... you guessed it. LOL.

I only use little strip of styrene ( StripStyrene item n0.165 .080 x .100" 2.0 x 2.5 mm from evergreen scale models

I got them at my LHS I wanted the " L " shape but he didn't have any in stock.

I simply sand of the strut were it will be in contact and also sand the plastic step and stick on with clear silicone adhesive.

I use my own skisI made many moons ago .
I made them out of fiberglass , they were my first attempt in making fiberglass parts and it turned out not too bad.
They shure go really well on snow
Thats my Unionville Beaver 40 size , dont have it any more its sold and the new owner never flew it yet he says he likes it hanging on the ceiling

Guys at my club fly off the snow with floats. I was going to by some skis and was told not to waste my money and just use some floats I already have.

I do that too and when its nice powdered snow its actually loads of fun

I could not resist so I made the tiedown ropes
I also replaced the quick links for the rudder cables like I did on the other servo arms , I prefer the ones that have a nut or metal lock ring instead of the big white plastic lock ring , 2 of them already popped on me when I was securing them.

I guess its ready now for the maiden flight
All I need is the good weather now and its not looking good for the next few days here................bummer

ok thats great then I can warm up too in the southern weather

I just happen to be a big fan of the Beaver so it helps

I'm not crazy about the water rudders, they look scale but they dont retract so I might have to work on those too eventually.
I'm even thinking of instaling little servos in the floats to work the rudders direction and retraction.

Hello and thanks for all of the comments and info in this string. I have been wanting to get a Beaver for a long time. I was planning on building the E-flite arf but you all have me convinced this is the way to go. It will be delivered tomorrow so perhaps by early next week I can do a maiden. SkylineFlyer, your flight video and commentary are what did me in.
