I just found out that Steve Neu from Neu Motors was the winner of the micron Pylon races at the MWE this weekend!

congratulation Steve! I heard it was a very close race and lots of fun,

I kind of took the easy way and used my old Stinger 400 and just pulled the brushed motor out and installed a 1105/3Y with a CC45 controller and a Tanic 780 pack. Prop was a 4.7/4.7 CAM. Flew fast enough to do the job Flying weight was just about 9oz.

Is there a way to get your motors here in the old Europe ?
I'm afraid to pay a lot of customs duties if I get one directly from USA.

Way to go Steve, that's showing them whipper snapers how it's done!

I won the first heat using a Kris-S airframe and an Arc130 motor,2s hyperion950. and an apc 4.1x4.1

There was no final between the first and second heat winning pilots so congrats to both winners Steve Neu and David Rosenthal. Hopefully next year we will have more pilots and more time to swap out batteries for a second round of racing. Both models were fast but Steve Neu definately knows how to fly around the pylons.

What happened to Fat Albert?? I was sooo BUMMED to see it go down

Fat Albert had a cardiac arrest inflight....I took off and it seemed sluggish (more than usual). I attributed it to smaller mAh cells I had swapped out to save weight. RPM was down about 400 on ground tests but not a real big deal. I trimmed the elevator on one pass and on the next pass it was noticeably slowing down. I took action to land but as I was in a right turn to head on down-wind final I saw black smoke coming from the left side of the plane. Just like that the motors appeared to quit and I didn't have it anymore. It kept rolling and spun in from about 75ft. When I aproached the plane in the field it had a burnt smell and I sniffed out one of the motors on the left wing. Upon inspection at the field the commutator was pretty bad so since it was in series with another motor it dragged the system down. I am checking to see if the esc fried and if it nuked the BEC.

I looked at the airframe last night quickly and need more time to determine if I can rebuild. I would need to build a new nose but the wings look ok and the tail is, of course, perfect
