Thanks. I used Testor's spray paint from my local hobby shop. I was originally looking for airbrush paint but the guy at the counter told me it's safe on foam as long as I spray it three feet.

Three feet away? How did you do the waves?

Yeah, three feet away or it'll eat the foam. I tested the paint on a drop tank that came with the jet to see how it is and found that it was safe to use. The waves were kinda sorta tricky to do but not hard at all...

I just sprayed painted the whole jet with the primary color I wanted which was flat aircraft dark grey. While waiting for the paint to dry, I took two pieces of cardboard paper and cut it up in wavy forms of differing patterns. I only needed four pieces. Then I carefully picked a spot to start the waves...I like starting at the wings and carefully sprayed the wings with the stencil on the wing and worked my way around the jet using each different wave shaped paper.

ive been thinking of ordering one of these. how does this model fly?

They fly great as long as you have a decent power setup in it and placing the battery in the right CG location (mostly forward of the canards). I have mines fitted with an RCLander 68mm DPS 4000KV EDF unit powered by an 80A Detrum ESC and Sky Lipo 3300mah 4S battery.

It's pretty fast though not the fastest EDF out there with this setup I have. I haven't clocked the speed of my plane but I say it gets up to a little over 60 mph. I'm able to do loops and some basic aerobatics with mines, but then I have my Rafale modified with functional canards and rudder. AUW is around 1587g.

Today another joined this club of what must be the most under appreciated airframe in the history of RC. Mark's has the extreme RC CS10 alloy 4S setup and the original colour scheme as opposed to a paint job, has it about 200g lighter than mine.

how do you set up the canards? do you set them up with the elevater? & im guessing you can turn them off during flight? ive never owned a canard plane. i do fly with a dx6i though. thanks

I also own the DX6i and this plane uses the AR600 six channel receiver. I have the canards set up like elevators and I have the servo connected to the "AUX" slot of the receiver. It can be turned on and off via the "Flap" switch on the DX6i. Programming and mixing of elevator, flaps, and ailerons on the DX6i is required, especially for the canards. I had to use less than 50% expo or servo travel on the canard setup as so it won't hit the airframe and intakes.
