OK I got a few days in with the 801
day 1 with a high start and 10 to 15mph winds
not a great day to get it all set up but did find it had a bit to much nose weight. took some out and flew about 7 more launches.
Today was contest Day we get one pre flight to test then contest starts
1 test in a nice claim day I had to reset some of the trims as not a windy as 1st day. Plane floats a lot more then my old Supra and will move around the sky a faster too.
our contest does 4 rounds with a 5--9--12--14 in order
1st round I do a 5:03 with a 96 landing Need to work on approach and a bit fine turning on flaps
2nd round I add a bit more down comp to flap setting and hit a 8:59 with a 86 landing. I finding that this plane will track very well on approach I just put in down a bit soon also need to add more down for the landing hit ( will mix a Landing profile when I get home)
3rd round air was a bit tough and had to work the whole time. I was at 100feet at 5 min mark and moved from the bad air and was looking at landing points till a hit a small bump and worked that for my 12 I don't think I got over 100 feet for 6 min I still went over time 12:03 with a 86 again for landing
4th round found some air and worked it for 5 min before it went away and most every one was dropping out at that point only 3 of left in the air at this time. found a Maxa doing some low turns and moved over to see if I can get some help and I was able to work it again 120 in the air for the rest of the flight.
I took 1st in sportsman and 2nd over all in the contest
I can't wait to get more time on this plane and make my times spot on with landings

Nice job on the first flights. Just seeing some activity on this thread-great airplane! I set both of my elevator neutrals according to the instructions and they needed almost no clicks of trim for first flights.
Question-is the new center section (802?) a drop-in for the old (801)? Fuse/wing joint and tip joints?

Since this thread came up, I have a stab set for an 801 that needs a home. It has some damage that is fixed, is red, and free other than shipping cost.
For the above question, not much, 3-5mm.

Still waiting for my new centre wing panel, should have been here just before Christmas. Should be here soon I'm told.
Will post about it when it does arrive.

2nd contest with 801
Ok today was the season opener for SVSS in Davis Ca
My 2nd TD contest their but the 1st one was called do to much wind.
Put my 801 together and walk out to staging area (other wise Explorer parking)
A bit different format then I used to tasks are 5--8--10--10--12 any order and the winch was open 5 min after pilots meeting so just walk over and fly. you can do all your flight right then if you want to 1st flight I timed for my buddy then I flew.by the time I went up there was only 3 of us in the air and we all came down quick so I had to go for my 5 right off the bat. I still fly a bit over on time 5:03 but hit my 1st 100, I now have to make my 8 10s and a 12 I was hoping to the leave the 5 for later but you get what you get
round 2 I got my 12 out of the way 12:02 with a 93
round 3 good launch and ok air for a while we though I would get a 10 out of it but at 6:30 it felt like someone was standing on the wing as I looked around a lot of us where dropping fast. I ended with a 7:41 and 0 landing and a few of the group landed out also. so only 10s left 1 try for a 10 good start and good air got 10:3 and a 83 landing I thought I was late but we had a bit of down and cross wind on landing, I felt it but did not know how bad it was till 2 other guys asked me how I got my plane to track in like it did with the cross and down wind. I just thought it was a bit fast for me.
last round air was getting heavy felt like rain was coming so 10 min was going to be tough I thought but was able to get good lift away from every one else and was I told myself lets get the time close and just get landing points as I thought the 8 min round killed me overall. I was high at 2 min left so I got to put the 801 thru some fun fly and was able to get me a 10:01 and 90
I ended up 2nd in Expert and looks to be 5 or 6 over all with all the master flyers
Just got a high start and will work on time and landing with Bob McGowan when I can
The Tragi 801 looks great in the air and I can tell mine plane out of All the other every time I turn

Hooray, my 802 centre panel has arrived!!
I've very briefly looked at it, the finish is near perfect and is a wonder. The red colour (top surface only, carbon underneath) is a shade brighter than my original wing, possibly just the effect of an extra coat of paint.
My original tips fit very well with a tiny step at the leading edge (0.5 mm or less). The panel fits the fuselage perfectly.
A quick measurement has it about 205 mm longer in span than the original panel.
Empty weight (no loom, servos, links or frames) is 620 grammes against 524 grammes for the standard panel (both FCL layup).
I'm told the aspect ratio increases by 1.
Only other difference is that 'Cluster 375' replaces the 'Cluster' wording on the left flap.
Will take some photos eventually.
I have a small challenge with the install as I will need to duplicate the flap geometry exactly so that the wings can be swapped without changing model memory in the transmitter (would involve re-binding) or sub-trim/end point settings.
