Someone in my area is flying one. He is a long time flyer and loves the Manta Ray. He said it flies well, soars and is really tough. He had a head on collision with a 3M sailplane that destroyed the sailplane and hardly left a mark on the Manta Ray. He is experimenting with smaller winglets but other than that says the design and construction are very good. I think he bought it from Atlanta Hobbies. He's planning on buying another one and converting it to remove the electric motor and run the smaller winglets. He said that in effect he's buying it for the wing itself.

Hi Fritz,
None really, I used Elevon Mixing, no differential. I found no need for flaps, as it will slow
down very nice! Make sure the CG is right which is 23 mm in front of where the carbon fiber tube Make sure you have the CG drawing!
Joe

Use the "New CG-Flyingwing" for the CG location (23mm from front end of motor carbon tube),

the Manta Ray is nearly ready. Tommorow should be the first flight.
What are the ruder deflection for flying and landing? are you land with crow?

Thank you
Fritz

Hi Fritz,
Here are the control throws that I used on mine.
(Elevator) 3/8" up and 3/8" down
(Aileron) 3/8' up and 3/8" down
(Wash out) Elevator Both UP 1/8"
Did not use the flaps or crow for landing as it lands very slow Ezasy to land!
Good luck and have a Great fun flight!
Joe
