Never assume an ESC is plug and play....Always check the settings....Even if you think the low voltage cutoff is set right it is a good idea to set it again to what you want it to be...Remember that when using multiple ESCs one could shut off before the others causing problems...

What the heck is plug and play? Any esc that isn't running simonk firmware will need to be flashed first, HK carries no such thing (though this will change soon), so maybe hit up RCTimer or something?

They will, when the time is right. Stop being cheap and buy BS12A and flash them.

Flashing the ESCs with simonk firmware will limit their consumer market to only multirotors, They also would have to pay some one to flash the ESCs which will drive up the cost unless they find some one like elton john who works for free...A good thing to do is to be 10 Amps above what your maximum demand of Amps will be for insurance...

ORLY?
I use them on planes and gliders too. Forget that crappy stock firmware which you can accidentally reprogram on field (and go home, because you can't reprogram without instructions), cryptic throttle range setting, not-good-working brakes (i like 6/10 on most planes with SimonK FW, but some requires more, some less) and many other good features...
So - there's NO limit, maybe unusable on heli (yet?) because governor is missing.
