I stay away from " Scale " airplanes, there are just to many things done wrong for the sake of scale that are bad for RC. They look great, but in the end I am very practical and am much more interested in how a plane flys than the way it looks.

The view out the Cockpit is really neat though, I think that would go over very well giving FPV " Rides " to people. With the cockpit, and your pan setup, it is as close as you can get to giving a ride in an actual airplane without actually leaving the ground

I have a Jazz HD178. Amazing results for it's cost. Still looking for the other components to downlink. Lots of choices. No decisions yet.
I go to Vimeo to watch your videos. I have HD on and can watch over without reloading. I'm guessing that's the best I can do?
Rick
Hi Rick,

Do you have any videos posted with the Jazz camera? I'd like to check it out. I tried an Aiptek "HD" camera once and it sucked so now I'm camera shy.

Watching on the Vimeo page is the best quick way to do it. But to really see HD quality downloading the video is the way to go. There is a link in the bottom right side of the page. The file sizes are about 200 to 300 MB for my 5 to 7 minute videos. The original H.264 mp4 files are 500 to 700 MB but that gets reduced after I run it through Adobe Premier for the edit. Thank goodness Vimeo posted the correct settings for creating files for upload, I would have never figured it out on my own.

Hi Paul,
Attempting to download it now. Funjet2008 (next post) is where the info came from about the Jazz camera. He has some videos posted from the 188 ( same camera, I think) I have none posted in HD yet,
Rick

I was able to download the video this morning despite two power blips. It took about 40 minutes and as I have no download manager must get it in one lump or start again. Viewing this way takes all the critique away. It is just plain excellent. You certainly don't need to consider another camera as long as yours continues to give you results like that.
Thanks,
Rick

It would be interesting to have you compare Paul's video to the HD188 you are using. I have yet to fly my HD178 and only have video from the ground. You would have to download the original to see what he is seeing. What do you think?

My Walmart only has the 188. From the looks of it on the package, the screen can't fold back flat against itself. Looks more like its supposed to be laid down on its side and the screen flipped up like a little television for viewing. Our Best Buy sells something like the looks of that one that is supposed to be HD and has the same screen style. Can't think of the name of it now. Envision maybe? Was only like $100 or so. Not sure of file format.

2009 thread starts to be more optimistic than few older ones loaded with "google-earth/ out of body experience flights". Keep them going and don't forget about my Realistic FPV piloting thread.

BTW I hope I don't need any extra written permissions from video owners to hand pick my favorites ones and copy them there too?

Regards
Homer

My apologies, first off....Will not attempt to hijack this thread....

But I have been given permission to hold a 1'st annual FPV HLG18 hole event at our local golf course this spring....True FPV one toss at a time.....
