Process Control Engineer at an Alumina Refinery
Been flying RC since I was about 5yo, now have my full sized pilots licence and aerobatic rating! FPV is the most fun I've had with a model.

16 years in IT, currently working as Data Center Engineer. We build the physical layer for high availability computer environments for about 90 customers from all around the globe. Flew gliders for a few years and also hold a commercial pilot license.

My other full time job is keeping the world safe from a little 6 year old miniature weapon of mass destruction in pig tails.

System Control Engineer. I've worked in aerospace, metallurgical processes and now in automotive in a US company in France. I am also canadian but I left Alberta at the age of 15 so lost some of my english.
I started flying RC at age 13 but stopped for a long time. I am discovering FPV.
I also have a mass destruction weapon 10 years old.

I'm an industrial designer with a German based multi-national design consultancy. We are one of the worlds oldest (since '56) but still small enough in numbers as to totally avoid that "corporate" feel. We have 5 offices spanning the globe and have amassed more than 1,000 design awards.

I have been scratch building model planes since I was 8 or 9 (im 31), and flew guillow's gliders before that. I always thought I wanted to be an engineer but discovered how rare true creative opportunities are in that field so I switched to product design. Now I get to blue-sky new products, hand build mechanical prototypes, then pass it along to a team of engineers. Someone of historical significance once said that to conceive of a new idea is divine, but to carry it to fruition is servile. I'm not sure I agree but it certainly is more interesting to spend your time innovating.

I think the truth lies in between. Carrying an idea to fruition is a good experience because it'll give you the real life constraints. It depends also on the type of the product. Engineers are practical: they like to see their ideas work. The motion of the machine is amazing by itself. Its the embodiment of an idea. The machine is the link to a more spiritual reality. Now, as a senior engineer I surely would'nt be happy to develop something I did not design.
