Not a bad idea depending on where you fly. We have lots of woods where I fly and that would definitely help but somehow I haven't bought one yet. I also have managed to avoid landing in the woods. Saying that is like saying "Wake up Murphy, you are not taking proper advantage of my laziness."

I'm still kinda new to the idea of remote cams, etc... Anyone have an updated ballpark figure for how much one of these setups would cost, plane aside, to be able to remotely fly the plane using either an LCD screen or goggles setup? I've been looking into a ccd 2.4ghz or 900mhz setup for recording aerial video.. it appears to be somewhere near $200 to $300 for a setup of this variety, I wasnt sure how much more it becomes if you are actually trying to remotely pilot the plane..

I also havent seen alot of details as to how you would control the plane from farther distances (or do most still stay within normal visual flying distances anyway).. IE: Dont most transmitters for controlling the plane have certain limits or at the extreme end max out at as far as can see distances?

Cheers

I spent around € 1500 for all the video equipment, including the video recorder. I normally fly a bit over the visible range, but I do it only when the location in the open range and with my failsafe set to do a zero power minimum speed left turn, my easyglider can almost land by itself. Get a high end radio before you fly so far. I use Futaba T9CPS.

Wow.. if i did my conversion correct.. isnt this close to $3000 american dollars. Of course you said you included video recording equipment.. I already have that part, or at least one that would do the job.

Sounds like a fun setup though. Are you using goggles or any sort of head tracking setup in that?

That was a British pound symbol was it not?

I was basing that number off off the top link here http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...ars+conversion

Sorry, I'm not up on currency outside of the US

Yes I spent a lot of money on this project, I received my goggles and gyro few days ago from www.rc-tech.ch but I don't use it becouse the interpupillar distance is too different for my pupillar distance and after 2 minutes I feel vomit and nausea, I also contact them explaining the problem but looks like they need more than a week to reply an email (less than a day when you place an order).

Same issue with www.rangevideo.com , they answered me in few hours when I ordered the equipment and now for a replacement of a bad voltage regulator (a $20 bucks accessory on a few hundereds $ order) that broke after 2 hours of usage I'm still waiting a reply since 7 days ago.

Same issue for the airplane I use for video piloting, order confirmed in less than a day, 2 months to be answered about a missing rudder fin in the box, in the end I sold the airplane for 1/3 of the price and the company ( www.nitroplanes.com ) now offer me to buy another with 25% discount, so I should pay 100% + 75% + 2 shippings + 2 custom taxes to have a working airplane

Am I lucky or not?

Guys when u buy these equipment make sure the company has a GOOD after sale customer support.

Hi,
As said here and written on the website I'm currently at military service, and have very limited internet access for 3 weeks. Also, please try to keep the correspondence with the same person. We have always dealt together previously, but you sent that e-mail to my colleague who had to forward it to me. Thanks.

could not agree with you more.its funny how certain "vendors" will be quick to reply to make a sale, etc.but once thats it good luck getting ahold of them.or if they do decide to answer its usually a one line'r missing most of what you asked.

and your situation with range video is unacceptable IMO.

IMO if your gonna have good internet business you also have to fill orders in a timely fashon, make your costomers happy, and offer Support for the problems people have.

after repeated pm's and emails to range video.i pretty much given up on them.i took my business to future hobbies,if you want excellent costomer service and no aggarvation this is the place to go.they also have better prices then others on allot of stuff.and all there video tx's are the same stuff as well.

im done ranting

Hey Kilrah... How goes boot camp? I guess in your country it's a must that everyone serves the military. Well from what I see, I don't know how you manage to cater to all of your clients (needs & questions) AND generously help everyone with your unmatchable knowledge. (in more than one forum!)

Anyhow just a little encouragement from a very appreciative guy. Keep up the great work Andre!

question on tx/rx at 2.4 GHz

I have for several days been trying to determine if a Futaba 6ex 2.4 GHx transmitter/receiver would be compatable with a 2.4 GHz video system for FPV. Either there is not anything on this topic in the various forums, or I am not using the right search terms. Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance...
Lee

. . . . I'd order a 500mw 2.4ghz tx/rx set and panasonic kx131 from rangevideo. . . . with a Futaba 9CAP Super radio. Diversity receiver (futurehobbies) with two 14db flat patch antennas . . .

there is nothing that you have to do to your video equipment with your Futaba so don't care about Futaba compability. YOu need the radio to be compatible with the head tracker if you got any, in any case Futaba is the most compatible radio with those systems.
