For those of you who are using patch antennas on tripods, what are you using to connect them to the tripod? I have a couple of cheap camera tripods and was wondering if there was a mount available or if I should just build one out of sheet metal.

Hi.

I have to admit, I really dont have the pationts to read side after side. Need more time to do that.

But can anyone please tell me which is the best system after your meaning.
I live in Northen Europe, where is the best to buy from?
and what is the difference between the two system(pal, and the other......??)

I remember that there was something about that in the old video systems.
is that the same here also.

The video standard for Europe is PAL, so probably best to buy a PAL camera as it will work with other stuff bought in Europe like video cameras and mini DVD players. PAL is better quality as well.

If you don't have any equipment for FPV already and have quite a lot of spare cash, then a good starter system would be this one from electonicarc.

The goggles are excellent and have a built in receiver so you don't have a lot of equipment to carry to the field. The 500mW video tx might not be legal in your country, so best to check this before buying. The included camera does quite a good job, though not quite as good as the expensive CCD cameras, but all round a great starter set.

You should be able to easily fly 1km with this setup.

If you have less money to spend then you can always try buying video tx and rx from china, but the quality is very hit and miss.

I wonder if this would be a good unit if you are having trouble with long servo runs, or servos that chatter from interference from your vid Tx.

yep. As long as both are either NTSC/PAL and one has component out while the other has component in you should be golden. You should look for goggles on ebay. I picked up an almost new Headplay unit for $100 there and before that I got a rangevideo set on ebay for $80.

I've been experimenting with an AV setup which I bought from eBay at a cost of £38. It comprises an AV TX and RX. I used my own bullet camera from a previous experiment.

Took it out, today, and checked out the range, LOS, between two small hills. At a little over 1.1 statute miles, the picture was solid.

I was not able to increase the LOS distance, unfortunately, owing to the terrain. Even a few bushes or trees were enough to kill the signal, though.

The unit is, unfortunately, not legal for aircraft use, owing to its claimed RF output of 2W.

However, I was pleased with the performance, especially as I was using only the standard, cheapo, aerials.
