Here's the start of a build log for the KMP F-18 I have been laying around for a while. So far its a nicely made jet, it took a bit of trimming to fit the fuselage together but it turned out good so far.

Interesting build deuce. I've got a couple of these NIB that I picked up a couple of years ago.
Might inspire me to get them out and do a little work.

Thanks John, Of course the detail will be far from yours but I'll do my best I'm going to be scrolling through your threads for pointers.

I threw the plane on my scale and added as much as I could including the motor and ESC (no battery) and so far its at only 2 lbs. I'm hoping it should be around 4.5lbs without ordinance. I'm not looking for a speed demon, just a nice floater.

Is this kit still available? I thought it was discontinued...

I'm not sure, I've had this kit sitting around for a while now.

Not sure if they still make them or not but I know two years ago I paid $135 shipped for each one. Falcon 5 had one at Vegas several years ago and if I remember right his was about 5 lbs or so AUW. He hand launched it easily and I think used a Scorpion 3026-890 on 4s with a 12x6 prop. He may chime in here some time.

John, That's the same setup I'm using. Nice. I'm salvaging it from my Arrow. Going to hold off on the Arrow rebuild for another time.

Does anyone know the CG location for it?

I started with the c/g on this ba#6 with 4 inc / 10,16 cm behind the point where the leading edge hit the fuselage, measured along the fuselage. I have never tried to change it

That's where I got mine. I contacted them and asked if i could just buy the airframe only.

The one reason I have not built mine... finishing the foam. There is a lot of detail molded in,
however, I simply hate bare foam.

I guess now I'll need to figure out a plan... 30 min Expoxy (thinned) or PolyU

I would really like to hear some opinions... fiberglass cloth is not an option, MHO will just add weight, time, etc... its foam

For mine I'm going to lightly sand the rough areas, small amount of filler and spray it with WPBU, then paint. Add another light coat of WPBU after then it should look good. Guess we'll see
