PA Katana MX 57"or 3DHS AJ Slick 59"

I'm a fairly good pilot trying to decide between the two please give me your opinions.
The Katana is more attractive but what airplane is more fun to fly.

I fly the Katana MX and it's awesome. Does the book from rock solid zero wing rock low and slow to high speed precision stuff with ease. Fun? Oh yeah!!!

Look at my videos if you want to see.

It really depends on what you are after.

If you want something that flies more like a oversize foamy and lacks real precision go the PA.

If you you want a solid precise versatile aircraft go with the 3dhs Slick or a Extremeflight 60 Edge.

Check out what pilots use that compete in any of the competitions. Chances are it will be either 3dhs or Extremeflight ,you'll be lucky if you spot a PA pilot

I thought that was mainly because PA is not making any of the bigger 30-35-40% airplanes that are used in competition.
What airplane do you like better the Slick or the Edge that you mentioned?
I had a "48 EF Edge and did not like it I thought it was too heavy for it's size.

When I look at the videos both airplanes look like they fly pretty darn good.
I wish I could fly both airplanes and then decide.
It would be nice if someone on the blog has tried both airplanes to give an unbiased opinion.

I had a katana MX. key word is had there, i enjoyed it so much on the maiden i ran out of battery and it crashed into a million pieces. not my best idea, i have flown extreme flight and 3dhs planes and if you are looking for a plane to go huck around for 5-8 minutes get the katana but if you want to fly something that feels bigger and more precise get the 3dhs and i think that the extremeflight falls right in with the 3dhs plane. it all depends on what you want to do.
good luck with choosing the plane you really cant go wrong with these planes they are all extremely high quality. and its just a hobby its all about the fun

well i have my own fleet of planes.

3dhs: 71" ,89",104" slicks /58" edge
lee ulinger: extra330
dw fomies: micro juka, and yak
parkzone: t-28, p-51,extra300, visionair
ms composite: maxi swift, swift 2,
j tech lazer: switchblade
extreme flight: 64"mxsr
st model: fox
dreamflight: alula

but i would say my favorite plane to mess with is my 58" edge from 3dhs. my friends have the 59" slick. it flies almost identically to my 71" slick i couldn't believe it. but i loved my katana mx for the short while i had it.

I had the KMX.. had.
I'm not bashing the plane because it flew nice but, PA charges way too much if you need just something small. I couldn't take it anymore so I sold my KMX, AMR, and Addiction over last season. You'll spent 2x-3x's as much on shipping from them compared to any other company. The planes are nice until you need wheel pants, cowl, or CF gear... just say'n.

I would recommend the 59 slick over the PA, EF 60" extra is a sweet flyer also. The 58 edge is also a great flying airplane. The support from the factories and the fellow flyers here on the thread are excellent for any of these planes. so pick the one that appeals to you. the 50 to 60" airplanes are heavier which will give you a better flying in the wind.

Don't forget about "the 57":

This is the favorite sub 30cc flying plane of many pilots...including myself.

I have flown most of the planes listed. Under 30cc my fav is the 59 slick with the 58 edge close behind.

Ok, I think I am sold on the Slick, the other airplanes in the 50/60 inch category intrigue me though.
What airplane of the 3DHS, EF is the fluffiest lightest flyer.
I been flying the Addiction so there will be some adjustment with these higher performance machines.

i haven't flown the 58 Edge or 59 slick, but the 57sc is very light. You should check it out. It's really the dark horse here. People have often said it's the best plane that 3dhs makes which many don't know about. Perfect combination of size and power with Scott Stoops design.
