Eflight seems to be going upmarket in terms of quality and price. They are right into Align and Gaui territory. They should be commended for using the well established BeastX FBl system instead of a cheap newer Chinese system. The 300X certainly looks interesting but the 500X will need to be much cheaper .e.g

ALIGN T-Rex 500EFL PRO 3GX Flybarless Super Combo w/3GX System+500MX Motor+70A BESC+DS510Mx3+DS520 $699.00

ALIGN T-Rex 500EFL PRO 3GX Flybarless Super Combo + 2.4G Futaba/JR Radio F3D RTF (Expert Built Service!) $959

So it is $959 for a RTF Align 500 3GX FBL vs $900 for a 500X BnF. The Align 500 3GX combo is only $699. There is no way this is going to eat Align's lunch.

you need to a a lipo and charger to your prices on that too
thats going to add another 100 to 200
and how much is shipping? from horizon its free 3 day shipping
then all the little stuff like connectors for the lipo and ESC etc
and thats all FBL the RTF 500 3D is a flybared heli much like the 500E but comes with a DX6i lipo and charger again going to be hard to beat

While I like the way Blade is going.... The 500 is a bit expensive for a new heli, new servos, new motor... etc. Nothing about the heli is proven and $900 is on the expensive side regardless of what's included when you're up against a company that has been making 500's successfully for years with well proven electronics.

The 300 looks much more interesting to me because, yes, this is what the blade SR should have been. Esky had a 300 size belt driven heli years ago and while it did have it's issues it flew fine.

BTW, fanboy talk like "will eat Aligns lunch" does not help. Blade is going outside their micro comfort zone with the larger helis which was obvious when they released the 400 as their first foray into 400/450 size. Align has been making 500, 550, 600 and 700 size helis for years.... sorry but no "eating lunch" will happen...

im hardly a fan boy i own a T-rex 500ESP 3G and a Compass 6HV im just stating it as i see it
i mostly hate Blade stuff but the price is right for some one getting in and wanting to fly at a club
a 500E which is what the 5003D is competing with will come out to be more then 850 when you get every thing you need for it
so..
5003D RTF 850 done
a T-rex 500E
kit 450
lipo 50
charger 100
TX 100
RX 50
total 750
thats the MIN to get in the air and you have to track down and order every thing
then build the heli
and im being nice on th price id be for most people they will pay more since they wont know were to get thedeal
so that comes closer to 900

Basically, you have got good electronics (mainly the BeastX) in a new untested air frame. The Align 500 has been around for years and has got good support from clone makers as well as makers of premium after market parts. There is also a huge amount of local and internet support available.

The other attraction of the the 500 X is that it is ready built but I find this rather iffy. The labour cost to Blade would probably be less than $10 in China with factory girls who are completely disinterested in the hobby. Whereas those built and set up in Hong Kong are by experienced modellers. A 500 is very dangerous machine and I would prefer to pay more to somebody I can trust.

I think a key part people overlook about Blade is that they already dominate the micro market. If you think about it, why would any body who has learned on an mCX, switch brands? I have yet to meet someone who has learned on a T-Rex 100. IMO I would stay with the same brand during my progression. Mixing things up usually complicates the average user. (I work in the IT department, trust me. I KNOW. )

Another thing Blade has going for them is great customer service. For align, one usually has to phone a friend.

Now, I am not trying to start a helicopter-holy-war, but I think Blade Helicopters is doing the right thing in climbing up the food chain. Who knows? Maybe we'll see the Blade lineup next to all the big dogs at 3DM someday.

other thing is here places like Hobby Town will carry parts locally
every LHS in town can order align parts for me but so can i

seeing a rack of 500X parts and being told you will have to wait a week for Align parts will push people coming from the mircos, SR, and 450s to go with the Blade 500 and 300

remember this isnt targeted at most of us but the teens and people that just fly now and then
id bet most of the 500 X end up as hanger queens

Agreed!
I do like the blade helis, but come on...
to me the prices they want for the Blade helis is to much.. there is such a bigger mark up on them than there is the Align helis

LOL.. the Align comes with a radio, the Blade BNF does not!
uh a good radio is $350+ for the Blade
for the Align you can have lipos and a charger for under 100bucks!
uh, I think that makes the Align cheaper....

I don't know whether there is any sort of agreement between HH and vendors in the US, but I think you are making a big assumption that every LHS that sells Blade helis will stock 500 x parts. That is especially if the heli does not prove to be popular.

None of the LHS here in Hong Kong stock a full range of parts for all Align and Walkera helis. The only Blade heli sold in Hong Kong is the MCPx because other Blade helis are not competitive. This is especially since there is no HH support and warranty here.

The bottom line is the price. It is usually the cheaper helis that sells better. At that price point, there are brands other than Align to think about as well.
