Vlf DC-3 wip

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to post something I have been working on this weekend.

Its a DC-3 based on dz1sfb's VLF build style. I have the basic outlines done. I still need to work out battery locations etc.

Let me know what you think, any suggestions etc.

thanks,

Dale

After lots of cutting I've finally got all the parts for the fuselage cut. Still need to work out placement for the electronics etc before I glue it all together.

The black foam is horrible to work with! The wings are going to be done in white foam. I will wait and see if she flys before I sand and paint the fuselage.

Got some time to work on this tonight. After making 2 left wings, I finally got the wing together.

Too bad you didn't do some trimming and sanding on the fuse Toast. With all those layers it is easy to get a nice shape out of it. You should see some of the stuff Ken does with his VLF designs. Pretty awesome.

I like it! Maybe once you've got it all balanced and the battery location figured out, you should build a second fuse with cutouts in the right place for everything before you laminate the layers together. Could be a very clean design.

Thanks Guys,

It was Ken's designs that inspired me to try the DC3 as a VLF before I do it as a full fuselage build. The fuselage hasn't been glued together yet as I still need to sit down and work out where I am going to put stuff and where to add cutouts to reduce weight. Initially I was planning on doing the test flights without shaping the fuselage but I think she would look much nicer with a rounded fuse.

I have lots of changes to add to the plans so far and I am sure there will be more!

cheers,

Dale
