The Amigos build a Thompson DC-3

Since I have never seen this plane fly or built one. I am going to do just that. Build and fly a Russ Thompson DC-3. Robert has given control of the molds. So why not squeak one in for me. Fermin has claimed a couple of my planes as it always does.
So I can't stop building.

This is not a seam in mold it's " old skool"
Yesterday I laid it up before I surfed. Now I will use an old credit card to free it.
Then I will tape it up and seam cut the holes in the saddle and the wing.

Next I carefully line up the fuse by the hatch marks. The mark out the hatch and saddle.
I cut it with a diamond wheel cutter and then round the corners. To remove the stress point.
Now I finish taping.

I think I might ...

The fuse is all seamed now.
This is the way I will ship them out.
So now I'm at the short kit status.

Next I cut some 1/64. " ply skins.

I will bag those on with the white gorilla glue.
Putting glue on the cores and wiping the skins with a damp cloth.

It saddens me greatly to hear that. I love my Boyz. They make home life better. But here I live in the coyote area too. It's bad. But they don't seem to hunt the park much. I live in on the edge of mikes of open space that leads to camp pendelton.
Somehow the Boyz make if. But they are only out a little and I keep them in at night.
They are in now. After a long day of surf. The water is 74 and the surf was good. Kinda bumpy today but super fun.
I had a great time. I will put you in my prayers.
There are a bunch of wonderful cats that need homes. When you are ready give one of those your love.

The Gorilla glue is applied and the wings are in the bag. It went easy. I just it beads all over (about 1/4 of a bottle per side )
The use a Bondo spreader and carefully dread it around. It foams up while you do that and increases in volume.
Be careful not to damage the core.
Then I wipe the wood with a wet rag.
The apply the core to the wiped side. Then I glue that side wipe down and god the taco over. Put in the bag an weight the core on a flat pc of wood.
Do the other side and stick it on bag.

Coming Next it's leading edges and the 1/2" x 1/2" balsa.

Thanks Rubio. She was a great cat. Her sister misses her.

But back to the building of airplanes....

No disrespect to the Sultan....but he doesn't recognize fine composite work when it's right in front of him (I just finished my first composite scratchbuild (a small DLG) and I'd say you do damn nice work )

Why use the gorilla glue is it easier than just bagging epoxy skins.

I like it because it easier and I think it forms a great bond.
Plus it saves on the pricey epoxy.
