Question
Trex 500 which ESC should I consider?

I recently had a failure of the Align 70amp ESC. I'm looking to replace it with the ESC from the Blade 500x, Castle Creations Phoenix ICE 2 80amp HV, or the E-Flite 80amp PRO. Thoughts, recommendations before I purchase one? Thanks, Jeff.

If you are running 6s for 500E, I suggest YEP 80A 6s esc, only $42.00. I used align, CC ice esc before too but YEP outperform and best buy..

I don't think you use 12s for 500E, is so then go with YEP 80A HV 12s but cost $107.00

Yes Align 70amp ESC's suck..I went thru 3-4 of them before i threw in the towel and went with hobbywing 80amp platinum pros..These are trustworthy esc's. So much so i now use them in all my heli's and planks. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ePacket-USA-...item3f1e6ae158

Those yep's are also very good esc's from what i understand. I have yet to hear one burning on anyone.

Also from what i understand Align has replaced those 70amp esc's in their 550 kits with c.c talon 90's...To date i have heard of 2 burning..Food for thought anyhow. -IMO- your best off with a yep or hobbywing.

Usually, it takes 7 to 14 days to shipped from HK global warehouse. Unfortunately, YESP 80A 6s esc out of stock from global warehouse but you may slect USA warehosue from left pane and order same item. As you are in USA, you may select usps priority mail as shipping ,methoad and takes 2 to 3 days.

So this ESC is better than the stock Align 70 amp? I just don't want any issues running 3 digital cyclic servos, gy401 gyro, and Futaba digital tail servo.

I have no issue with my YEP (HV) esc 45A, 80A, 100A but burnt up 2 x CC ICE HV esc & 1 x Align esc before.

It draw my attention that you need to check if futaba servo support 6v. Most Futaba servo support 4.8v only. But YEP 80A esc built-in BEC is 5.5v 6A output and you may need step down voltage regulator for Futaba servo.

YEP's are YGE clones, and so far, my sample 1 of 1 (YGE45A on a Blade 450) is great, runs as good so far as my YGE's on the msh's I have so far.

Be aware: some have commented the soldering job is shoddy on some esc's. So I suspect that the QC might not be as good as YGE but I've not had any issue with the 45A I'm running.

My own judgement on the 'greyness' of the issue of this esc being a rip off is this - I will fly real YGE's on the heli's I value (my msh's) mainly to salve my conscience.

Be it as it may, this represents tremendous value IMHO for those who cannot afford the real thing. Get the program card with it. Governor on this thing is great.

I agree with the yep or Himodel Ice (same) but if you are going main stream I would go with the CC talon 90 because of it's bec.

I have a 500 ESP converted to DFC (6s, 500MX, BeastX) that I've been flying nearly every weekend for over 4 years, doing medium/hard 3D for the past 2 years... and it STILL has the original stock Align 70amp ESC! (Original, as in the one that came in the combo with the heli.) Never had a single issue with it, ever, even on days when it was 100 degrees outside. Sorry, but you can't sell me the line of BS that the Align ESC is junk. If you're burning them up, then you're doing something wrong.

I cooked the Align 70amp esc in my FB Trex 500.

It happened whilst I was fitting & testing a Co Pilot II. I think a servo went beyond limits and overloaded the esc?

Anyway, I have replaced it with the Talon 90 & all good so far.

Btway, the coloured smoke & stench was something to behold. Stunk the whole house out & woke everyone up !!

Yes, allowing a servo to go hard up againts it's travel limit will burn up the BEC in the ESC very quickly (dont do it!).
