AMD Hawk

At the edf jet jam Kevin Cox was flying one of these models on a 10S Jet Fan with simply an inlet ring and I was impressed with how nice the model flew. I picked up a well used example of this model that was being flown on a Dynamax on 12S.

I plan to power it with a 12S Jet Fan with an inlet ring for starts if I like the way it flies I will make inlet ducting.

I decided to refurbish the model and started by removing the old fan mounts and alot of old built up epoxy that held the original fan mounts in place. The fuselage moulding is actually quite light and well done. The wing is built like a tank and feels as heavy as one too! It's a foam core with obecche wood sheeting so I am not sure why it is so heavy. I need to find a way to get some weight out of it.

The nose will need a little repair work and this might a good reason to make a long nose Hawk 100. I will redo the nose gear mount too.

I'll post some photos tomorrow of work I've done so far.

NO Beaters in my fleet!
The fuselage is very light and strong for its size. There are a few areas that have cracks that will have to be repaired with a piece of glass cloth but nothing major.

I will most likely move the rudder servo into the fin with a removable panel.

I will not do any paint work until I have flown the model to decide just how well I like it.

Hi Robert
thanks for that. I thought you had found some magic potion other than Elbow grease.
Cheers

Don't I wish!
I weighed the wing this morning with the retracts removed, what a tank, 2.4 lbs with film covering. Looking at cutting new wing cores to save 1lb minimum.

Amd Hawk For Sales

I also Have an AMD Hawk for sale if anyone is interested. It has been flown twice years ago with a nitro engine. It is equipped with spring air retracts and JR servos. It has a little hanger rash but would make a great candidate for electric power. I will take $300.00 for it. I will box and ship at your expense.[ATTACH][ATTACH]6240Name: hawk.jpg
