Trevorh, check out a common height adjustable ironing board for a field bench. Works well for this old coot....
art (72, 5 way bypass, both hips replaced, RA, etc.)

In my model, the batteries are sitting between F3 and F4 but I have room to move them further forward between F2 and F3. Adding 1 to 2 to the nose should not effect the flight characteristics.

Art: I have seen people using ironing boards at the field - I agree they do work well with a model stand on top. However they are a bit narrow for putting Shock Flyer models on at indoor meets. My half pasting table worked out okay so I'll stick with that for now. I just hope I manage to find the other half when I next come to do some paperhanging!

Laddie, thanks for that. Does your hatch extend back to F4 or did you stop it at F3 to avoid weakening the fuselage structure?

There is no hatch on my model. I have to remove the wing to change the battery which is no problem with one bolt holding the wing.

Too many other projects in the que right now

But my 2 cents, from what I have read so far, Change the location of the aileron servos. You are asking for trouble with your set up, plus putting weight out there may make this plane unstable.

Now I will shut up and go back to watching

The formers are now glued in. The dry fit felt reasonably secure so I just removed the formers one at a time and glued them back in place. As usual, in spite of eyeing it all up several times, re-examinination the morning after showed a few little misalignments.

I'll try to sort out the wing fixing next - I find this easier to do before the top of the fuselage is sheeted in so you can see how it's all fitting together.

Very nice! I can see how it gets confusing building this, is the wing upside down in the first picture? Yes, I believe it is...
