Betcha this one will do 200, at least!

Seriously, though, try a Giant Diamond Dust from the same link.

Great Planes Little Toni might be good with a 90-size engine. But you know, it doesn't take a 90 to go fast - a Great Planes Viper 500 with any half-decent .40 ball bearing engine should top 110mph easily.

My buddies Viper with a TT .40 PRO, 9 X 7 prop and metal plate mount has been clocked on radar at 127 mph. I felt more comfortable flying that than a Sky Raider Mk. II at 90 mph.

Mine was clocked at 121mph (or 195kph) with a Super Custom .40A engine, APC 9x6 prop, OS A3 plug and Cool Power 5% fuel. It sure is a great flyer. Good for pylon racing or even makes a great sport flyer. It's very easy to fly as it tracks well and handles predictably.

tonight i put the gps in the sundowner with the saito 220. just over 8000 static with a 16x14 apc on 30% heli. winds were barely moving the flag i would say 1 to 2 mph.
i also made sure not to dive at all on the gps flight. the full throttle dive to the centre line of the run way was no more then about 10 degrees.
I had to look twice at the gps... the max recorded speed was 246kph or 146mph.
max fpm was 2174fpm but it starts to run out of steam around 800'.
needles to say i am pretty happy about the speed and the sound is awesome.
one other note the 220 i have has the stock carb, and its the 180 carb.
also at 50% throttle it works out to 1 oz a minite. the plane is a blast to fly but it will snap hard when flying under half throttle with full rates on if you get to heavy on the elevator.

I found a site that you can put the pitch and rpm and it gives you the speed, but the numbers are wacked and the gps does not lie.

We put a GPS in a Sig Kadet MKII. On a downwind run (20KpH wind) and a very slight dive (maybe 4 degree) it read 199.8 KpH! In a Kadet!! I am amazed the wings stayed on.

Id like to know how you got 199.8 kph (124.149964 mph) out of a Kadet did you put a .61 on it and fly it in 30 mph winds? I have a Hangar 9 Xtra Easy 2 that has been through the radar at 76 mph off a shallow dive (and 24 mph on a slow fly-by at 3), and its faster than all the Kadets Ive had. I consider the Mk II to be the one capable of the highest speed.

I would really like to go gas and use the BME 90 which is a supertigre 90 converted to gas. Do you think you could get that motor on the viper and still be in cg limits?

I don't think that'd be a good match so you should maybe be looking at the H9 Sundowner or GP Little Toni instead for that engine. You might still like to consider getting the Viper on a .40 as it's a small plane after all, only approx. 1,3m wing span so it's speed is fairly impressive. 120mph looks a lot faster on a .40-sized plane than on a 90-sized plane.

I have no idea how we managed to do it, all I know if what the GPS told us. The plane is our clubs trainer and has no special mods. I beleive it has a TT46 in the nose.

Winds were around the 20kph mark with some gusting but not that strong.

Diving with the wings off perhaps? It sounds like there was something wrong with the GPS. Maybe it lost the satellite signal for a little while and during the time the Kadet had still kept flying, of course. And when the GPS got the signal again, it kept calculating the speed from the last known position or something. I've never witnessed such a thing with the Magellan GPS-units I've used on a boat (not RC) but a car navigator sometimes do that. It occasionally shows like the car would be going like 500kph.
