Micro brushless gimbal

Since AlexMos's ingenious idea (http://www.simplebgc.com) many gimbals for GoPro and heavier cameras were designed.
I tried to check the concept from micro side. I was really surprised that tiny 2.6g motor can handle keychain 808, #16 HD camera. Now waiting for roll motor, and new PCB board (designed myself to reduce weight). Total weight of the gimbal, including camera and electronics is expected to be less than 40g! (now about 40g, second motor will be compensated by new PCB)

For this test I'm using Martinez board and open source firmware.

The gimbal is attached to Ar Drone v.2

Have a look at first test, video quality is not that good because of re-compression. Insert shows ArDrone's camera (USB record)

Test micro BLDC (brushless, AlexMos) gimbal (pitch only). Ardrone v.2. (4 min 14 sec)

Update (05-28-13) Test of 2 axis gimbal and new board

2 axis micro gimbal test (video 2) (3 min 35 sec)

Now that's very interesting. Great work. I'm currently working on some micro quads and this could be perfect for one of them.

What did you end up doing with motor? Had to rewind (ugh) or did the micro have enough resistance not to matter? Subscribing.

Even worse, with 0.05 mm (AWG 44) wire (12 V version)

I was planning on building a little brushless gimbal for an 808 as well. I was thinking of using the CF2822 motors because theyre very cheap and sorta light but that little motor youre using would be much lighter. How much can the be had for, and from where?

this seems a great fit for 3d printing because of the low weights you could really get things done on the thin side. and lets hope we can find some good motors i dont think i could rewind a motors this small. maybe we can trick the guys over at www.flytyingforum.com to do it for us.

I don't think anything on this scale is worth 3D printing, the quality/resolution is horrible.

I did mistake in my previous posts ( corrected): the motor is AP-02, not AP-03
