Het 90mm F-18 Elevator Upgrade??

I'm looking to buy the HET 90mm Fully Composite F-18. I currently have the HET 90mm F-16 which I had to do significant modifications to in order to make the jet safe to fly (elevators & fuselage). The F-18 has always been one of my favorite jets and I would love to own one. Im afraid I do not have the proper equiptment to make the modifications like keithtsr did with his F-18. Would anyone be able to help me out and make me a set of hardware for the full flying elevators like keithtsr's or similar? I will be running the jet on 12s. The hardware will be at my cost plus labor. Any suggestions are much appreciated. Here is the link to keithtsr's setup-

I started working on a larger KMP foamy (L=64.5". WS = 47"..JF90 on 12s ) awhile back , and I too had read Keith's thread. I came up with this set up.. Using similar methods as Y/A does for it's F-18 kits.. here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...3&postcount=58

I don't know how much room you have to work with, but you surte could modify it some to fit yours. Parts used--control horns--http://www.sierragiant.com/prod14.html ....Bearings (2-sets ) ...http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXD093&P=7
And the 1/4" rod from here. http://www.onlinemetals.com/ Chose which ever metal suits you-- Titanium, Stainless Steel. I got some flack on what I chose- everybody said it would bend- but if it bends in 6", something else went wrong, and its not coming home!.......http://www.onlinemetals.com/merchant...192&top_cat=60

It's still in construction so I cant say how it works-but I recently got one of the last Y/A F18 single kits around-- so who knows if or when it might.
I just figured if it was good enough for Y/A to do there's that way --way not .
No fancy tooling needed here. Good luck.

Has anyone used modified wood blocks instead of aluminum for the elevator assembly without the formers attatched?
So to make things clear, the example of the Y/A F-18 mounting style but without the formers. I just do not want the rod running through my ducting.

On the Y /A , the rod does not run through the ducting! .. They only go as far as the
inner former About 4+ inches , give or take.

Go back to this-- http://static.rcgroups.net/forums/at...mounts%20-1.jp
yes it does show it going full length- BUT only to keep bearings centered, then they are cut off.
