E-Flite Alpha 450

I have gotten really comfortable with the alpha 450 ....it is a really lite plane with a ton of wing loading and can take a large range of battery sizes any 3s from 1800 to a 3300mah hard case lipo. From what I have found the larger batteries will help keep the plane from climbing all the time at full power and keep it from floating like a kite. I would not waste my time and money with the 1800-2100 recommended by eflite.... no smaller than 2200 or the plane will be tail heavy unless you add weight to the nose. I Run a Venom 2700mah 3s 30c on the stock pnp setup and its perfect didnt have to add any weight to the plane, the cg is spot on and I get over 20mins of flite time.

The plane has plenty of power...it will take off in less than 10feet and climb vertical up over trees or whatever in a tight area but the only thing it could use is a little more top speed I think a park 480 upgrade would be just right on this plane..... anyone done this ?

When I first got mine I had a apc 10x7 on it and in retrospect I wish I had used a 10x5 because I'd rather have acceleration than speed.

Now that I have more experience I'm not that impressed with the park 450 motor.... I'm flying foamies for the moment but if I start flying my alpha 450 again I'll be probably putting something with a bit more power in it.

For what it's worth, I found out the hard way that a pushrod was binding in two alpha 450 fuselages I've owned.
