Question
FlySky Frsky Combo

OK, I've been reading about this all night and I am still not sure what the heck if I understand this. I'm interested in one of the cheap flysky radios but would love to have the frsky module in there as I hear good things about their range, fail safe, etc. I am a total noob to this subject. Is there an easy way to get the DJT unit in a flysky or not? Is it plug and play or do you need to do some serious research for this? Any help would really be appreciated.

Not plug and play with the Turnigy model.
P&P with the original FlySky radio, which can be bought either as is from various sources, the cheapest I know is leaderhobbies but big queue, next is wowrcmodel, or rebranded as Eurgle from r2hobbies.

If antenna is on top, then avoid, look for those with antenna on module.
All I see now on eBay seems FlySky, none Turnigy. Use "TH9X -turnigy" as filter.
wowrcmodel seems to have in stock the original, cheaper than eBay at $99 shipped.

I just ordered it from Wow rc, actually not much more expensive than leaders since their shipping is like 30 bucks. Now do i need to do anything special with the firmware for it to work?

To make it work with Frsky system no firmware change is needed, just replace module, bind and fly.
For telemetry on radio screen you need to change firmware, else you have module basic telemetry, i.e. acoustic alarms for signal strength and two voltages.
To replace firmware there is already a recent thread "9X ...for dummies".

So I got this radio going with the er9x firmware and the frysky module. so for telemetry do i need to do any mods to the tx and frsky or will it work without doing anything?

Telemetry will work without mods. Just make sure its the telemetry rx you are using. If you want to see telemetry info on the Tx screen then you will have to do mods. Just get the FLD-02 lcd and you should be set.

He means acoustic telemetry maybe... for on radio screen telemetry you need to do some open heart surgery.
Here is my favorite approach:

yup thats what gevgrp said. I'm not into that much risky business at the moment unless i see some super simple easy explanation out there which I have not yet. Some claim to be easy but not really and the risky of damaging the board sees pretty high for a noob.

I think RCModelReviews will do a internal telemetry tutorial, but it's not going to get ultra easy ever.
