Help!
Mystery Prop

Hey guys..my neighbor from a few houses down is slowly getting into modeling..he's also getting in to collecting, seems he's fascinated by old engines and RC gear, Anyhoo, he drive down to Austin to pick up some old planes, and one of his treasures is a postwar O&R .60. It had a plastic prop on it that was marked "Snafu 90"...seriously, see the pics. It;s about a 10 inch prop, no idea on pitch, and the propshaft hole has an aluminum bushing. I've never seen or heard of one, any ideas?

I got this info from SAM Talk and old timer Bruce Carroll. Maybe the first plastic prop to hit the market. His brother Norm had one he thinks on a Delong egine on a U/C model many years ago. Jack

SNAFU is UFANS backwards. i.e. CL sometimes called U Control way back in the '40s.
Guess it's an old prop. from the '40s.

More from SAM Talk on the SNAFU 90 prop These props were notorious for flying apart. Roy Bourke recalls these props being banned from use at some contests and club fields. SNAFU is from WWII military and staands for Situation Normal All F*** Up. Jack
