I have videos on how to update the firmware on the Walkera transmitters and how to update the
firmware on the receivers for helicopters and quads that have the firmware updating feature.
I have videos on how to back up your transmitter models to a computer file and how to load models from your
computer to your transmitter.
I have a video on how to upgrade a Devo Transmitter Firmware to Deviation Firmware.

The Walkera UP02 Upgrade Tool is used for updating the Devo 7 firmware.
You will use the UP02 Program Upgrade Tools V1.0 software for this.

For the other Devo transmitters you will use the USB port and USB cable that came with the transmitter to update the firmware.
You will use the Devention Dfuse USB Upgrade Tools V1.5 (Devo12/S/Devo8/S/Devo10/Devo6) software for this.

For updating the RX firmware you will use the Walkera UP02 Upgrade Tool and the Walkera UP-02 adapter.
You will use the UP02 Program Upgrade Tools V1.0 software for this.

Each video will tell you what adapter (s) to use and what software to use.

I installed the deviation firmware in my Devo 10 and it works great!
I was able to bind with my Mini CP and 4G6 with the RX2609.
My friend came over today with his Blade mCPX so I tried it also and it worked well. Flying a Blade helicopter with a Devo TX was cool.
I used the Blade mCPX model that is included with the deviation firmware. There is also a model for the Mini CP.

When I installed the deviation firmware my models were no longer there.
I backed mine up before the update. I went back to the original Devo 10
firmware and my models are now there again and everything works fine.

I went back and forth between the deviation firmware and the Devo 10 firmware two times and each time worked fine with either firmware.
I did this to see if you could go back to the original firmware if you wanted to and you can and there are no issues or problems doing so.

I have the following Videos.

I updated the firmware on my Devo 7.
My Devo 10 has the newest version firmware but I updated it agin to make the how to video.
I updated the RX firmware on my Hoten-X, Ladybird, and Mini CP.
I imported and exported models on my Devo 7 and Devo 10.

I am using Windows 7 32 bit. Both of the Walkera software is working well.

Here is where to download the firmware and models: http://www.walkera.com/

12. Setup for the Walkera Master CP - RX2637H-D Receiver - Devo Transmitter.

Devo 6, Devo 7, Devo 7E, Devo 8S, Devo 10, and Devo 12S transmitters.

Walkera recommended using their downloaded minicp.bin as a starting point for the Master. Their settings are very similar.

You can use the settings here listed below which are from the user manual or you can use my settings for the Mini CP.
Also there are Buildem336 (Manuel) 3D settings here. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...9&postcount=64

See the index for my Mini CP setup gudies. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1325037

Special thanks to pmerritt for sending me the Master CP owners manual to make this setup guide.

Also thanks to zadaw for posting the PDF owners manual for us. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=174

13. Setup for the Walkera V120D02 - RX2610V2 Receiver with 3-Axis Gyro - Walkera WK-2801 Pro Transmitter.

*** First set the RX2610V2 Dip Switches. ***

RX Dip Switch factory positions are both down from the factory.

Set these to the following:

BAL switch down (On) and PIT. REV up (Off).

IMPORTANT!

The PIT and ALIE Servo RX locations will vary between different V120D02 helicopters and different RX2610V's.
Try Option #1 first. If your radio sticks are working correctly you are all set. If not use Option #2.

RX2610V Servo Hookup Option #1

PIT Servo Plug goes into the PIT RX Socket.

ALIE Servo Plug goes into the ALIE RX Socket.

Also see my picture below.

RX2610V Servo Hookup Option #2

PIT Servo Plug goes into the ALIE RX Socket.

ALIE Servo Plug goes into the PIT RX Socket.

Also see my picture below.

*Make sure you verify the settings after you are done before you fly the helicopter.
On the WK-2801 Pro you must hit ENT to save a setting, if you just back out of the menu it will not save the setting.*

**These are settings I have tried and use. These are good starting points for you.
Some people use these settings as they are and others change them to meet there needs.

Step 1. Create a new model (or reset a current model) in the WK-2801 Pro TX.

Step 2. Set to stick mode 2801 if it isn't already set to it. Stay in 2801 stick mode.

23. Setup for the T-Rex SE/Pro & T-Rex 450 SE V2 - Spektrum DX6I and DX7 Transmitter.

* Beginner Settings

Model Type: HELI

Swash Type: 3 Servo: CCPM 120 degrees

Reverse: This will vary depending on which servo brand and Tx you are using.

Revolution Mixing: Inhibit

GYRO: Set the gyro gain as high as it will go without getting tail wag.

I am using the Futaba GY-401 Gyro.

Rate SW-GYRO

0: 50%
1: 72.0%

Swash Mix:

Aileron: -60%

Elevator: +60%

Pitch: +60%

Travel Adjustment:

Throttle: -100% / +100%

Aileron: -100% / +100%

Elevator: -100% / +100%

Rudder: -80% / +80% – Adjust to control tail servo response and speed of pirouette.

Gear: -100% / +100% *

Pitch: -100% / +100%

* If you are using the Gear Channel to control the Gyro Gain then use these settings as a starting point and adjust them as needed. +72% / -28%

Pitch Curve - Option 1: Hover at 3/4 throttle

Spektrum DX6I: Normal Mode and Stunt Mode

Set pitch curve 1 for -2*
Set pitch curve 3 for 0*
Set pitch curve 5 for +7*

Spektrum DX7: Normal Mode, Stunt Mode 1, Stunt Mode 2

Set pitch curve 1 for -2*
Set pitch curve 3 for 0*
Set pitch curve 5 for +7*

Curve 1 = 40% > -2* pitch measured with a pitch gauge

Curve 2 = 45%

Curve 3 = 50% > 0* pitch measured with a pitch gauge

Curve 4 = 65%

Curve 5 = 80% > +7* pitch measured with a pitch gauge

NOTE: The curve percent will vary from one helicopter to another depending on setup.
Use a pitch gauge to set the pitch for the curves.

Pitch Curve Hold: 0-INH-50%-INH-100%

Option 2. If you would like to hover at mid stick to learn on use these pitch curves.
This is what I learned with. Some beginners like to learn this way instead of hovering at 3/4 throttle.
The drawback with this is you will have to learn to hover at 3/4 throttle if you plan to do any 3D flying.

Pitch Curve - Option 2: Hover at 1/2 throttle

Spektrum DX6I: Normal Mode and Stunt Mode

Set pitch curve 1 for -2*
Set pitch curve 3 for +6*
Set pitch curve 5 for +7*

Spektrum DX7: Normal Mode, Stunt Mode 1, Stunt Mode 2

Set pitch curve 1 for -2*
Set pitch curve 3 for +6*
Set pitch curve 5 for +7*

Curve 1 = 52.5% > -2* pitch measured with a pitch gauge

Curve 2 = 65%

Curve 3 = 77.5% > +6* pitch measured with a pitch gauge

Curve 4 = 80%

Curve 5 = 81.5% > +7* pitch measured with a pitch gauge

NOTE: The curve percent will vary from one helicopter to another depending on setup.
Use a pitch gauge to set the pitch for the curves.

Pitch Curve Hold: 0-INH-50%-INH-100%

Throttle Curve

Normal

0-50-75-75-75

Stunt Mode

75-75-75-75-75

Throttle Hold: Set to 0%

D/R & EXPO

Option 1.

Set D/R for ALIE and ELEV to 70%
Set Expo for ALIE and ELEV to + 30%

Option 2. If the settings above are not tame enough try these settings.

Set D/R for ALIE and ELEV to 50%
Set Expo for ALIE and ELEV to + 30%
Set Expo for RUDD to + 15%

For D/R and Expo you can go higher or lower than what I listed.
These are good starting points for you. Adjust them to your personal needs/preference.

All this will give you lower head speed and less servo travel so the
heli isn’t too twitchy and with the low pitch curves the heli won’t take off on
you if you move the throttle up to fast. Also the heli won’t slam down to the ground hard if you move the throttle down too fast.

When you switch between normal and stunt mode there will be no pitch jump or throttle change with these settings.
These settings have been used by us in my flying club and work well.
With the -2* pitch you will be able to pull down the heli in wind.

These settings will help minimize damage in a crash as the swash and blades will be at mid stick zero degrees pitch.
This will also prevent a boom strike. The swash does not move with TH with these settings.

Devo 7 fixed manual

I have started marking up the Walkera Devo 7 manual with comments to make it clearer for newbies on how to operate, program and just get their head around this vaguely written manual. I will be updating these files periodically as there appear to be many errors in the manual.

Maybe Tom Z can link my manual in the first post. I will be updating it as I gain more experience and suggestions too.

I have also started a menu tree of the Devo 7 which makes it easier to see where all the settings are and what the overall layout is. Additionally, I am marking up the Genius CP manual.

These are all located at

Re: Setup for the Walkera Ladybird QR Series - RX2634H-D Receiver - Devo 7 Transmitte

Tom,

First off, like some others, I would like to deeply thank you for your guide(s). They are especially useful to a rank newbie like myself. I have a QR Ladybird and Devo 7 already on order and have printed out your number 21 guide. My question is, is it at all preferable to set up for the Ladybird in the Helli mode or the Aero mode? Sort of does it fly better or is it more versatile in one way as opposed to the other.
