alright , what battery do u have crammed in there? and have u checked the current?
have u flown it on 3's? is it noticeably faster on 4's?
i have the same setup on 3's and its over 30 amps, IF the battery can keep up it has to be close to 50amps. mine , w/ thinned trailing edges on all surfaces, mine is over 100 mph , but i dont see them going much faster because of wing thickness.could be wrong though

It was a gorgeous day!! So spoiled to be able to live and fly here.... We were buzzed by F/A-18C's, a couple Super Hornets and an Alpha Jet too....

Finally maidened my pnp Screamer last week.
Great flying little plane. Lots of fun.
On 2nd batt got to the edge of eyesight and mixed with a touch of sun, crashed pretty hard.
2 major body cracks but should be repairable.

Wow, if that doesn't make for a tight sphincter, I don't know what does. That was easily 110+ Way to go !

I have a Don's Wicked/Wemo dynamically balanced setup in my Skyangel F-16 and it's great. Sounds terrific, flies fast but as I understood it, this setup was ONLY good for 3s.

So what's the deal? Doesn't the motor come down screaching hot? What size ESC/battery is he running?

I think I need a Screamer now.

So here is my set up for the Screamer:

Power system:
Wicked 6000 KV motor
Wemotec 50mm Microfan
Don's thrust tube
CC Lite Ice 50 amp ESC (should have gone with a 60 amp)

Lipo is a TP 4S 1300 65C

You have to let it rest for 10 min between runs.
The ESC is in the airstream so it does not get hot at all. The motor gets just a little warm.
Great set up except the wait between runs.
I haven't had a chance to get the Watt and Amp readings yet.
I also used Don's thrust tube template which you can find on his build thread.

It' my favorite 50mm right now. I would definitely say it's doing 115+ mph right now.
The airframe needs no reinforcement, mine has three coats of paint on it holding it together.

Went out to re-maiden the Katana yesterday and was faced with another no-go. This time my elevator gimbal on the TX was not responding. Took it apart last night and looks like I'm back in business. Note to self: Do not drop you TX ! Maybe tomorrow. Received a fresh batch of 4S 850mah and 1000mah Nano's. Need to play with the Lipo/Rx placements for optimal CG. Seems like it's best to place to battery standing up along the firewall and have the rx in front.

micro , thanks for the info. i would be interested to see what the cell voltage is at full throttle, a real test for a 1300 i guess that 100+ mph cooling air is taking care of the motor cuz it's got to be making some heat!

The second pass scared the crap out of me!! A little more tuning with expo will get it even better! At least 110mph... But most likely more!! I am going to try one for sure!!

That is an awesome video! Assuming 70F air temp I got 110, 123, and 110 mph for the three passes in a row around the 1:00 mark so that gives an average no wind assist speed of 116.5 mph! I can say you have the fastest Wicked powered 50mm EDF that I know of!

For those who have been asking about this setup on 4S, I do tell people it is not intended for 4S as it will want to run around 700-750 watts on 4S. Typically I don't like to run the regular Wicked series motors over 600 watt continuous, also the rpm will be in the 70,000+ range which can outrun ESCs (the Castles are OK up to 130k I think with 6 pole motors), the fan needs to be balanced well, and the rotor will most likely have to be glued to the rotor adapter to make sure it does not slip. So extra care needs to be taken to run the 6000KV wemo combo this way for those who wish to experiment. The 6000KV motor does has thicker wire windings in it so it can handle more current then the lower KV versions I sell and the WOT runs will be not for too long a period on this sized model, and combined with the smaller lipo size used in these models (most likely keeps the watts below 700 from voltage sag under load) so it is a ream of exploration for those who wish to try it out. Simply because of all the extra care needed to make it work correctly, that is why I don't officially recommend it as a 4S system on a day to day basis.

Having said that, I will say it sure is cool to watch what you guys do to push the envelope with the equipment currently available. That was truly Wicked Fast!

how can it fit to the stock motor shaft of only 2mm???

The stock motor shaft of the Jpower motor is 3mm.

That screamer footage is intense! It appears to fly similarly to my Komet. I like how it slows right down to land, totally controllable. Very cool, great bang for the buck airframe, and the Don's powersystem is insane! Thanks for that.--------Metalguy
