Building Heavy lifter Octo and need wisdom on motor choice

Hello, I am new to this forum and have been gathering info for some time in preparation for building an Octoquad for a video platform. I have the frame built its 36" total diameter. and 4.5 lbs.
I am ready to purchase motors and ESC's and awaiting the new version of the Quadpowered control board. I expect the AUW to be no more than 15lbs.
I have been following a thread that was started by "obin" who built a large co axial quad that would lift 18lbs auw on 4 motors, and only using the other 4 motors for redundancy.
He had struggled with prop, motor and battery combination's as well as the coaxial nature of his build.
I would like to be able to fly with stability on 4 motors and have that redundancy as well.
I elected to build a conventional octo configuration as I believe you lose some efficiency on a stacked prop design due to wind vortex etc.
I don't plan on using the Turnigy motors Obin did but something a little better quality like an AXI or Scorpion or?
I would really like anyone suggestions on such as you'all have allot more experience than I currently have. I have included the thread I have been reading it is http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1182268 Any help would be appreciated greatly. I will post picks of my frame very soon. BTW I am looking to achieve flight times of 10-15 min. Thanks all.

Also, does anyone have an opinion on the Pulso 2217-20 840kv motor?
It would be for the oct application above

Canon 5d mkII. Although the camera it lifts doesn't really dictate the motor combination etc. AUW roughly 15lbs +/- 10%.

Like I said, It is based off of Obin's design ( to a degree) and it won't necessarily weigh that much it just depends on the camera flying.
So that said, what motor and batt combination's are you using? Flight times etc.
Any help is appreciated.

I am getting 12 minutes out of 2 3s 5000mah packs. I have a Go Pro HD camera feeding video to a 1.2GHz VTX down link.
I am using these motors http://www.quadroufo.com/product_inf...qh0ec76dbahb15
As well as these ESC's http://www.quadroufo.com/product_inf...qh0ec76dbahb15
Do you have any Copter experience?

Thanks for that info. It helps. As far as copter experience I don't have allot but plan on some seat time on a simulator prior to flying the camera.
My experience is with motion picture gear and cinematography mostly.
Very mechanically minded and have built many contraptions in my time.
My weak side is the electronics to be honest. I can figure most things out but that area takes me a little extra time.
What do you think the advantages or disadvantages would be with the motor and esc combo you referenced in comparison to the Turnigy motors TR50-45 and ESC's used in Obin's quad?
