$80 for a 6 channel RX?! You're kidding me!!!

Spektrum wants 80 bucks for a 6 channel with satellite?

60 bucks for no satellite, and it can't be upgraded to have a satellite?

That's insane! What is wrong with these people?

No wonder people are buying clones. I may also.

Off to the classifieds hoping for a used one...

There are 3 things about the orange with satellite rx I have

1) there is a 0.1% probability it glitched and cost me a plane.
2) the connectors don't fit right, have to cram them in
3) when sig is lost, motor shuts off but controls do not center- that might have made a difference in my crash

So, when I pick up my bipe tuesday, I am trying to resist putting in the orange I have. That'll be for a foamy or a cheapie or such.

The 7ch and 9ch orange receivers, the 710 ($20) and 910 ($25) have the failsafe. If I can't meet budget I'd probably buy the 710 and use my satellite.

Until this crash I had zero flight issues with the orangerx, I'm wondering if there could be interference out in the middle of nowhere where I fly, (I81 is near, but what on a truck radiates at 2.4 gig?) some days it would take a few tries to bind, other days it took 0.5 seconds.

Always got good range during range test, never had an in-flight glitch.

Tempted to get the spectrum scanning usb widget.

My orange rx have never let me down, but a GENUINE brand spanking new AR6200 with Sat. did on the very first flight. $350.00 Extra, scratch that one off the list.

I think it's hit n miss with either. People will claim brand x fails more than brand y, truth be told if you've no trouble with them, why stop using them?

I think for this new model I will want the controls-to-neutral feature.

Also the 6210 has 2 antennas at each receiver, orange only has one.

Is there a good guide out there on spotting the counterfeit spektrum gear?

Just buy from a reputable store...LHS, horizon, etc

I use orangerx's on planes I don't put a lot of time or money into, but anything big or expensive gets a genuine spektrum rx.

Nothing wrong with that...Anyway, used ones are usually proven working as well. If I buy a brand new one I usually put it in a foamy for a few flights to check it has good range and stuff.

I strap a walkie-talkie with the TX button held down to the plane, put it on a tree stump, and start walking with the other TX.

Come to think of it, I have a few keychain cam vids from my champ where the motor shuts off for a split second at this location, maybe I should do some sniffing there. I thought maybe the camera was causing interference, maybe not.

Dave - there was a "shop" that had spek clones that they sold soooooo cheap. They had a disclaimer that said they could not verify the origin of them. I cannot find that shop now. ???? Anyone have a link?

I have 1 rx ar6200 from target and more on the way, but I did notice on the 1 I have it doesn't range check worth crap, only get a few paces away and it gliches (far cry from the 3 real spek ar 6200 I have) but it works fine out of range check mode.
