Esky honey bee king 2?

Just bought one of these off the 'bay for the princely sum of 60 pounds ($93.50 US), complete with 2 2200 turnigy lipos, charger, tons of spares, listed as RTF
Apart from a very quick look see on the net, I know little about this heli.
From what i've read, it's reviewed as a 6ch 'beginner' heli (Hmmm).
Coupla questions....
1) Was it a good buy?
2) So far my reptoire is a walkera 22e (3 years ago, crashed, repaired, crashed, gave up), syma 107g, blade msr (Now quite confident with), and a blade sr 120 (not mine). Have I bought above my station?
3) can I change it to my spektrum gear? It comes with a standard 35mhz set, which is ok, but I like my Dx6i.

2200mah battery sounds a bit heavy.

Thats what it comes with. Not an issue though, as I have 5 or 6x 1300mah 3s lipos, couple of 1000mah's and, if the size is ok, 10x 2200's, and a few odd sizes as well.

1.Yes, it seems to me it was a decent buy;
2.Yes;
3.Yes.

I've owned a King V2 for years and regularly fly it. Here's a link to an "everything you need to know" about the kingV2: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...ghlight=kingv2

You will definitely want to use the DX6i; it's not an easy heli to fly without a programmable transmitter.

use Dx6i for Esky Honey Bee King 2 I don't think you can use Dx6i for HBK2 without changing rx.

Again, not an issue. I have ar500's, 600's, 6100's, and even a 6100e I can swap out.
Thanks for the replies so far guys!

That version of the HB King is several versions past. I believe they are up to HBK4, plus some other variations. When it comes to finding parts, you may need to upgrade to stuff from a newer version.

cheers Balr, but I've found quite a few UK modelshops that still stock lots of bits for the V2 (I know I'm gonna need them!)
I'm putting in some serious time on reflex RC sim, so, fingers crossed, I'll get to do more than spool it up in a few months (I sort of guessed it was beyond me, but theres nothing wrong with dreaming......)

I keep forgetting, ESky is pretty widely available everywhere but the USA! They used to be my favorite low-cost brand.

As said before, install a spektrum rx on your king 2 and you will be able to control it a lot better(I did it on my King3). King 2 tail is a bit underpowered (weak main/tail gear ratio) but it should be able to fly (and there was an xtreme upgrade part to fix the tail ratio problem.

Well, so far, I've unboxed it, checked,(all complete and it's brushless! Screws,nuts, etc tightened), powered up, and briefly hovered (2ft of the ground for 10 seconds) with the stock TX/ RX. Also has an esky 855 gyro - head hold?)
Also came with loads of spares (complete swash, tail rotor, belt, main shaft, flybar and paddles, 2 motors, etc...just need some more main and tail blades and the training set with the ping pong balls, pitch gauge, blade balancer and a bank to rob to pay for it all!)
So far so good....quite bad vibration on spooling up, but settles down at roughly 50% throttle.
Possibly a tracking or balance issue/
Unfortunately, I'm going to have very little time to test /play with further, as I'm having the whole house rewired and a new central heating system installed, so for the next 3 weeks or so it's chaosville.

Everything I got for 60 quid!

How the hell do I get the swash level? I've eyeballed it as best I can, spooled it up, and watched it drift left. Corrected with the DX6i trims, and it goes right! As in far right!
After much investigation, I seem to have 'lazy' servos. Move slowly, then seem to 'hurry up'.
These are the stock esky digital servos.
To be blunt...are these servos s**t?
I have no prior knowledge of them (I usually use towerpro SG90's in my RC planes)
Is it something I've set on my transmitter? Having googled I see quite a few people have changed for towerpro 8g MG servos.
Advice please?
Thanks in advance,
Chris.

I have found ESky servos to be of fairly poor performance and reliability. I use Hitech on my ESky helis. However, that's not behavior I've ever observed. Do you have lots of expo set?
